Flying Above
The worm inside my head burrowed a deep hole, where darkness resides
I stand at the edge of a cliff, light dimmed, image blurred every fiber in me wilting to nonexistence
The great sea thrashes, beckoning with its deep blue eyes I spread my wings and look up, unfettered by the turmoil rippling across every cell in my body
Like birds confined in cages, I crave the freedom to fly, to soar high above toward blue skies— onward until I meet the sun whose touch will renew me
In flight, I awaken to below, a garden of roses, sunflowers, dahlias— rich colors bleeding with love to which I let it course through me until I am stitched and whole
