With All the World's Alarms, I Found Solace Amongst the Mountains (Mount Rainier National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: In later images with this airplane view, I zoomed In with the focal length to emphasize more of the peaks and ridgelines around Mount Rainier in the image...in a sense making it all the image. Here though, I wanted to capture that wider angle view that set this whole landscape of Washington the Mount Rainier National Park and its breathtaking view. In order to capture that amazing view my eyes took in, I felt it best to have a more sweeping view across the landscape leading up to Mount Rainier. In a sense, everything would be a foreground leading to the mountain peak in the upper image center. I decided that angling my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward would be the best way to bring out that feel and look.

Peaks of the South Washington Cascades Just Above the Clouds by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: I learned many years ago the value of a window seat when it comes to taking in mountain views or settings with clouds and the many patterns it brings. Here I had what amounted to a sea of clouds stretching off to the horizon with this one mountain seemingly rising above as the peaks poked above that cloud layer. I later learned that with the flight path taken and my GPS that is was probably Mount Adams. I felt the orange to pink glow far off in the distance added a nice color contrast, especially with the light blue skies above.

Patterns of Clouds off and Airplane Wing by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: During this flight to SLC, I found myself enjoying the views of clouds. Here I noticed the updrafts of a few off the left wing and captured that, letting the remainder of the photo open up to others I was soon to take in. Shortly afterwards, I saw lots of haze from the recent wildfires in Colorado.
