Cryptid of the Day: Flying Shrimp

Description: According to the Philippine Journal of Science in 1914, American zoologist Dean Worcester claimed to have seen shrimp that flew out of the ocean like flying fish. He described the shrimp of being regular sized with transparent bodies.

My first finished 3D model! It was ment to be a small-spotted catshark* with a hang glider, but everyone now knows it as the flying shrimp. Imma roll with that.

*Funny how small-spotted catsharks are called that way in english, because we dutchies call them (literally translated) ‘dogshark’ xD

I've been trying to add wings to a shrimp for almost 2 weeks now.  I had to teach myself enough Entomology and marine biology to be able to figure out how a wing would even theoretically go onto a shrimp, what part of the shrimp they'd go onto, how to actually translate which sections of the shrimp are similar to land-bugs that it would functionally work, I had to figure out how a shrimp would carry their legs if they were a flying creature by trying to look at how they swim while also looking at how their flying counterparts hold their legs to be able to make it all look natural.  The amount of work that went into this is actually staggering, since I still had to actually FIND wings that would fit my stock image of a shrimp here, wings in just the right position for it to actually even work in theory while still making it look alien enough to have some suspense here, and then manage to get them to work in the same resolution as my shrimp.  Fuck man, if god is reading this, if there are somehow unfortunately jobs in the afterlife give me a job creating new creatures because I've spent way too much time on this thing for you to not add it to earth 2.0 after humanity wipes out this one.
