@solitary-antic If this person were actually unbiased they wouldn‘t have bothered to write that long a post just to prove that a ship is in her eyes not real, then proceed to push it on someone‘s acting. Same goes for your defense, you‘re just bothered that Im not agreeing.

Here’s the thing. I don’t know who you are. We’ve never interacted before you chose to pick a fight with me on my properly tagged post. But I suspect you may be quite young, so I’m going to take the time to give you some advice I hope you’ll find useful.

You *have* to learn to accept that there will always be people who disagree with you, and that as convinced as you are of your rightness, they are equally convinced of their own. You have to find a way to be at peace with the fact that you won’t be able to change their mind. Believe me, accepting that will make you much, much happier.

And you have to stop hate-reading things you disagree with, because while feeling the righteous anger they incite may be appealing, it’s ultimately destructive - and destructive most of all of you and your mental health. 

The wonderful thing is, when it comes to interpretations of works of fiction, we don’t need to agree. We’re not meant to. Their beauty and their power is in their ability to speak to different people in different ways. So enjoy your relationship with a piece of work - with, say, The Last Jedi - without letting others’ opinions diminish that enjoyment. Art is big enough for all of us.

If you’re interested, you might like to give The Death of the Author a read. I find it a very useful essay when I’m fighting my own internal battles to deal with the fact that people are being Wrong on the Internet(TM).
