Imagine making it all the way up to the Jade Palace only for there to be a bunch of Fatui and one really pissed off Harbinger. La Signora screams from the top of her lungs as Sonic is blown away to the edge of the platform. He’s holding Paimon by his foot and his fingers are barely hanging onto the edge as the inferno witch clicks her heels over too the edge. She dangles the Ruby Red Chaos emerald over the edge. Guess the Fatui figured out that the Tianquan or whatever had it up here...
“Thank you so much for the tool we’ll use to topple the hierarchy of the Archons, Knight of The Wind.” Signora taunts before crushing Sonic’s fingers with her heel and laughing all while he struggles. Eventually, Sonic can’t hold on while his fingers are crushed and he falls toward the ground, soaring through the air and holding Paimon close to his chest. “AHH!!” The travel companion shouts. “WHAT’RE WE GONNA DO!?” The Fatui have taken his emeralds. So he can’t warp out of here with Chaos Control.
Sonic’s got no bright ideas... he’s simply gonna close his eyes and accept that he can’t get out of this one. An optimist at heart, he ain’t sure he’ll be able to get outta this one in one piece.
That is. Until he lands on something metallic.
The hum of what he lands on, it sounds and feels so familiar. This feeling. He remembers falling, thwarting the first launch of the death egg... almost failing. He was sixteen when Robotnik launched the first Death Egg... and as he fell toward the Earth, Eggman laughing as he got farther and farther away from Sonic... He fell on something... And when he opened his eyes then, he was surprised to see who had come to his rescue.
Now, as a twenty three year old, he opens his eyes again and is filled with the same surprise he was back then. Sonic, feeling the wing of the Tornado under him, looks to see a familiar orange pilot. He’s almost teary eyed. Stranded in Teyvat and thrown through loop after loop trying to get home, Sonic had almost lost it all... but what he sees when he opens his eyes totally reinvigorates him.
“TAILS!!!”
