it’s funny how much things can change in a time that doesn’t feel that long when she looks back on it. for years, mirae had felt like she was still a rookie idol until one day it had hit her that almost all of the seniors she’d looked up to in her early days had disbanded and gone their separate ways with civilian lives or acting or variety careers. now, silhouette is one of the longest lasting groups out of the three companies that now reign over the industry. (even those three companies have changed. when she’d debuted, bc had been leaps and bounds ahead of gold star, a company with no chance to yet prove themselves but bang sunyoung’s name attached, and she wasn’t even sure she’d fully known dimensions existed in 2010.)

now, idols frequenting variety shows had been replaced with livestreams and videos catered toward fans instead of the public. this new base online project is a clear picture of that, and she’d found it funny when her manager had told her she was supposed to interview duri for a youtube video. his fans would be more than fine with the typical pulling questions out of a hat or off of a board in the form of sticky-notes, so she wasn’t sure why she was needed, but she hadn’t fought the new schedule. she didn’t get to see duri every day, so some on-the-clock catch-up time with a friend wouldn’t be so bad.

cut to set a few days later. hot lights and staff scurrying back and forth fixing her hair and her lipstick isn’t enough to bring her mood down and when everyone finally clears out and she’s given the cue to start, the smile on mirae’s face only grows bigger as she locks eyes with duri to dive into the interview. “i’m in the presence of a god today,” she starts off, voice lilting with gentle teasing. “everyone, today i’m interviewing knight’s main vocal, he’s your candy, god duri!” she presents duri with a splaying of her hands in his direction, presenter persona on in full force. “talented in everything from songwriting to singing to cooking to being handsome. is there anything god duri isn’t good at?”

it’s a collaboration she doesn’t expect, or at least — she hides behind subtle grins when the studio provides the bit of solace before the cameras start.

once the camera starts, she flits her gaze over towards jiah. high spirits, feigned or not, minjung keeps steady staring straight into the camera with both of her palms clapped in a sound that blares in the studio room. this all points to the hands of the editors, evident when the beginning greetings will be pushed for the ending scene. 

for now, she’s pushed to keep to the questions all easy-going, and with the freedom of waving around her two hands. “jiah sunbaenim — to keep the first question simple, let’s start off with an easy one. how would you say your career has changed over the decade as bee’s been a household name in the industry for so long.” her lips curve, higher into her cheeks. no trace of malice, the tone’s neutral — a basics into the questions she’s learned from fuse’s mere six years.

despite having spent the last couple of months with the said person in front of her, yujin can’t say that she feels completely comfortable around taejin. to her, he was still a major senior both in the idol and acting industry, and their shared scenes together didn’t really do much to shatter any of those walls. if anything, she thinks they’ve only grown taller. 

she had arrived first like any good junior would do, fiddling with the cue cards in her lap when he walks in. standing up, she gives him a quick bow before sitting back down onto her own mini couch. whoever came up with the setting obviously tried their best to make it look as comfortable and friendly as possible, and she’s hoping that it translates over into the video too. they’ve yet to begin filming, and it seems the staff are checking through last minute technical stuff. 

clearing her throat, she looks over to where taejin’s seated to give him a smile. “honestly, this is my first time conducting an interview so i apologize beforehand if i stumble in the middle of all this.”

closed starter for @durifmd || suwei jumped at every chance she got to interact with a senior idol. she saw it as a learning experience. they were experienced, and for the most part had good advice. and she loved to learn. it was her senior idols that got her through her first year after debut. but she wasn’t sure she’d be any good at interviewing a senior. maybe it should be the other way around. she would feel it make more since that she interview someone closer to her in age. she found it odd though that they chose a senior from another company. and that the idol she’d interview was male. not that the fans would ever suspect her of dating someone almost a decade older than her.

but someone under dimensions in her mind made more sense. either way she was excited to be given the chance to interview anyone. especially a senior. she wouldn’t say she’s a fan of knight, but she did respect them and their music.

she sat in front of duri and gave him a warm smile. she felt comfortable around him. she’s seen him around despite being from different companies. she looks towards the camera and speaks. “hello! my name is suwei, and i’m lucid’s maknae and vocalist. i’m going to be interviewing knight’s duri today.” she turned back to duri. “hello.” she said a way of greeting. “so knight is celebrating their 10 year anniversary. is there anything you feel you learned about yourself in the last 10 years that have made a major impact on you and your career as a member of knight and a soloist?”

talking with taejin is something seungwoo’s well used to by now, but their current situation still feels so awkward. he’s glad that he’s interviewing a friend, at least, even if the setting does feel slightly clinical. he hates these fake living room sets, colourful furniture pushed to one cozy corner of a studio in an attempt to look welcoming. meanwhile, there’s a camera crew and producers and sound operators right on the other side. seungwoo, under all of their eyes, gets as comfortable as he can, cue cards tucked between his crossed legs and the side of his armchair.

their count-in starts, moving slowly down from five, and seungwoo gives taejin one final smile to say good luck while he still can. not that they need it. the introduction he gives is the most rehearsed part of it all, and once he’s finished, he turns away from the camera altogether. although it remains in his peripheral vision, seungwoo relaxes a little when he’s mostly facing taejin. 

“it’s a pleasure to get to be the one to interview you!” he starts, sincerely, his tone friendly and open. as he takes a look at his cue cards, seungwoo takes a sip from the glass of water next to his chair. “-- you’re a good friend. i know myself and many others have admired you,” he wishes he could cringe. it feels so awkward to phrase things like this, “basically since decipher’s debut,” not true for seungwoo, “but you’ve really shone as an actor these past couple of years. what’s been the highlight role of your career so far?”

akira fiddled with the hem of her skirt as she was led down the long hallway towards the room that the interview would be held in. it would be the first time that she would be doing something without the two other members of chroma since they had debuted not even a week earlier. she did think it was a little backwards that a senior would be interviewing their junior, but she tried not to dwell on that for too long. haon was an idol that was under bc entertainment, someone that she had seen plenty of times before, not just on television or on the internet, but just in passing around the bc building. she wasn’t sure how he felt about the whole thing, so she wanted to put her best foot forward for it. she was mentally trying to put herself on her best behavior, not wanting to let too much of her true personality slip through the carefully constructed idol image that bc instilled on her.

she entered the room after haon had, and she immediately bowed and greeted him. “hi, nice to meet you.. officially,” she said after her greeting. she walked over to the couch where she was designated to sit, hesitating for a moment before carefully sitting down. she fidgeted with her legs for a moment, crossing one over the other, before doing it the opposite way while smoothing out her skirt. “i’m sorry, i just - “ she pointed towards the pillow resting on haon’s chair. “do you mind, sunbaenim?” she asked, silently inquiring if he was willing to give it to her so she could place it on her lap.

“before we start, are there any questions that are off-limits?”​ ash makes sure to ask before they’ve even sat down on the seats arranged for them to sit in on the set for the interview. it’s what he’d want someone to ask him before being interviewed, so it only feels right to extend the favor to kami.

“i don’t have anything crazy planned anyway, just the normal stuff on your music and your group, what you want to do that you haven’t already done, that kind of thing.” ash scans the cheat sheet of questions he’s holding in his hand. he’s not sure if he’s allowed to show her the questions beforehand. he hadn’t asked, but he thinks she should be fine anyway. this is hardly going to be an attempt at manipulative journalism on his part. calling it journalism at all would be ingenuine when he’s pretty sure this is mostly for kami’s fans.

   duri was a bit excited to do an interview, especially with someone who’s a good friend of his. but, he thought it was going to be really interesting to interview a member of a group that was a bit newer to the scene of the industry, compared to duri’s almost nine years within the industry. which, to be quite honest, felt a little strange to think that he was almost an idol for a decade... he really was getting old, if he wasn’t already considered old, wasn’t he? but, there was no need to think upon that, doing a video interview was what was important right now.

he was dressed in a bit of a more laidback look, but something that was still seen as nice, as that was really the tone for the interview. he looked over interview questions that he had written down, something that was used more as a template of sorts, considering the fact that the laid back conversation was most likely going to go all over the place. he had sat down in the chair, eyes looking around. when he saw jiwon, he waved at her with both of his hands, his smile growing. as she was escorted over, he spoke, “hi!” he greets. “sit down, make yourself comfortable, and once you’re ready, we can give the cue to start!”
