I lose several days a week... to a lawnmower.
Let me clarify. I live in a place where summers get hot (I’m lucky to be in a basement apartment), and so windows need to be open or I’ll fry. About 3-4 days a week, the maintenance staff hop on the riding mower around 9am and get to it (leaving out the weed whacker that comes around later, much closer). This lawn care lasts until around 1-2pm.
I have SPD (sensory processing disorder) and noises like this physically hurt. My noise cancelling headphones aren’t enough. Often I lie in bed with my pinkies shoved as far into my ear canals as they can go (which is its own sort of torture because now I’m understimulated). And that takes all of my spoons. No shower. No changing the cat litter. No washing my sheets or vacuuming or cooking. I grab a frozen waffle, I eat it cold, and I wait for the afternoon when I can miserably recover.
I basically wanted to see if anyone relates, or has helpful advice (preferably other people with auditory sensitivity or knowledge therein).
