Oh I'm going to go on such a ramble here but hear me out, plural Hex
Not pural as in "Iris was a real fella who possessed him and now lives with him" but as in "hex himself was so traumatized by being hacked that his programming formed a factive of Iris personified". But like dude hex waking up one day to find Iris still there and panicking and trying to go to someone who can unhack him but there's technically nothing wrong with him. And it turns out Iris is a conscious being with him now with false memories of actually being a part of Iris the company. So he's constantly getting Hex to try and join Iris as a way of protection against any future attacks with his exomemories as a backing up point for this despite not actually being safe for either of them.
And at first Hex is very afraid of Iris. He sees him as a danger to not only himself but to his friends as well, fearing that joining Iris will just corrupt them both and make them evil. But eventually he tries to reach out online, asking others about their own experiences with alters and building up the courage to actually talk with Iris.
Meanwhile, Iris is doing some research of his own, not by looking through online sources but rather just being out on his own in the body. Usually he would be om edge 24/7 to prepare himself for another attack, but attacks never come. Days that he thinks will be full of fending off others is instead filled with talking to Hex’s friends, playing basketball with other people, gardening and baking. At first he only puts up with other people to keep up appearances as Hex but eventually he let's his walls down and starts to genuinely bond with them. Not only that, but he starts to get closer to Hex too.
Hex starts to let his own walls down and starts to interact with Iris not trying to change his mind but rather just to genuinely bond with him. As the two start to get closer they still keep their opinions on Iris the company, but it's treated more as a playful bickering between friends instead of a genuine plan of action. Things are going well, theyre both adapting to living like this.
Until Iris company attacks again.
Now both their friends are in danger and Iris is given the rude awakening that they can't be safe even if they join the side that threatens their safety. Iris tries to appeal to them but ends up attacked, leaving their body hurt.
Hex is panicking and almost succumbs to the hacking that's taken him twice before. But then Iris, fearing for both their lives, takes over. He alone is able to fight off the possession and fights his way through Iris company until he escapes again, leaving their foes worse for wear. He finally gets home and Hex, still trying to recover, collapses. Crying and panicking while Iris tries to console him. Iris fronts for a while so he can be on the lookout and so Hex can recover.
Then one day hex comes back to him, hugging him tightly and spilling out thank yous. And Iris feels dumb struck, hugging back and embracing him tighter then he thought he could. Something clicked in him then as he realized that they were both so afraid of the same thing, only trying to find protection in different ways. So he sat, holding Hex as they both finally found safety in one another.
It took them a while to recover after that day, but they're better off after it all. Nowadays Hex and Iris get along swimmingly, finding a good balance between not letting fear of what ifs control your life and being prepared for when what ifs happen. It was a rocky start, but the Circuit System's doing just fine.
Don’t mind me, just walking through memory lane on Twitter about the time we thought IRIS’ symbol belonged to The Greater Good
I just saw a post on the FNF reddit asking if anyone remembered the eye symbol from the earlier mods
Ever since it was confirmed to represent IRIS no one really uses it anymore
Idk why people think that's a bad thing honestly
Puppet!AU facts: The Red Eye Society
-IRIS created Gabriel for not only the reason of becoming the ‘perfect’ assassin, but also for a public image and servant to them.
-IRIS purposely left out emotions in Gabriel when creating him, to avoid distractions and show no mercy to his targets, but after realizing that people probably feel uncomfortable when seeing him, so they gave him a permanent smile seeing how many positive reviews it got from their worshippers.
-Speaking of worshippers, IRIS leads the Red Eye Society or RES for short, its like the TGG in this AU, 20% of the people there are normal people who joined this establishment not knowing it’s a deadly cult, while the 80% are worshippers and know the true purpose of the building.
-The worshippers would drag the normal people who work for them into a room, it’s unknown what is inside this room but the unfortunate person who is chosen would come out different, before they were probably a atheist, catholic,Jewish any kind of religion, but they would come out worshipping a unknown entity.
-When new recruits join Gabriel is the only one allowed to show them around and tell them the things they would need in order to join, he is the one taking care of the interviews, and genuinely seems like a nice person, making him genuinely likable and favored by everyone.
If only they knew…
Just a heads up by the way…Flashing lights warning down below, you may thank US later~
Murder, probably
Iris fnf + reader (AU where IRIS is a virus, not a hacking company and is named Iris)
It had been 1 week since Iris, the computer virus that took over Hex, had been rehabilitated and given its own body. You were hanging out with Hex when he challenged Keith and later got that virus, but luckily you were able to reason with it! Keith didn’t have to rap hard enough to make Hex crash and run a safety scan to kill it! You still had no idea how you managed to convince a computer virus to not kill Hex, but you were glad nonetheless.
Anyway, you arrived at Hex’s mansion, where Iris lived ever since being given its own body. You knocked on the door and were greeted by Hex, which you expected since Iris didn’t like talking to people as often as him. You respected that and knew that some people don’t need social interaction as much as others, or at all! You just wanted to check on it and make sure it wasn’t lonely from being, perhaps, not completely asocial.
Hex greeted you cheerily! “Hey there! What brings you here?” You replied, “Oh I’m just here to check on Iris. How’s it doing?”
Hex smiled as he almost always did. “It’s doing great!”
“That’s nice! Where is it?” Hex led you to its room and left you to do other things, then you knocked on the door softly. “Iris? It’s Y/N!” “Come in.” Said a voice behind the doorway.
You opened the door to see Iris sitting in a chair, reading a book. It was hard to tell, but it was very excited to see you after you helped it out.
“So how are things?” You asked while sitting down on a different chair. “Pretty good.” It answered while putting down its book. You continue the conversation. “So, what do you think of Hex? He’s pretty cool, huh?”
“His presence is… enjoyable. Maybe he’s a little too nice for his own good.” It thought aloud. The red eye that took up its whole screen was in a lazy, amused expression. “What do you mean, ‘for his own good’?” You questioned it concernedly.
Iris chuckled darkly. “Well, well, well, are you worried I’ll go back to my old ways just after you let me see the light?” It changed its tone from jokingly evil to genuine reassurance. “Don’t worry. I think I’m really a better person now.” You figured that must be true, since it agreed to be put in a body that couldn’t hurt anyone, no matter how hard it tried!
You smiled at it. Then you thought of something. It would probably say no, but there was no harm in asking right? “Do you want a hug?” You asked hopefully.
“Sure, fine.” It stood up and spread its arms wide, looking away. You were happily surprised, you thought it would turn your offer down for sure! You stood after it and hugged it tightly, and it embraced you back somewhat less tightly. However, the same feeling was still there! It was hard to tell when Iris really cared about someone, especially when you didn’t know it that well yet, but something about the way it held you told you it liked you! (Platonically, but read this fic however you want lol)
You pulled away after 4 seconds, and you had this stupid grin on your face that could melt some cold hearts. It looked at your face and rolled its eye, not in an annoyed way but in a “Such a sweet little loser(affectionate)” way.
“Well, anyway,” you decided, “I’m gonna leave. See you later!”
“Bye.” It said back, waving at you slowly while you left and considerately shut the door behind you.
You went home and made plans to ask Iris to hang out with you later, as long as it was okay with social interactions whenever you asked. You were happy about your cool friend and glad that it was doing well. The end!
