What bout companions react to a half-ghoul sole? Like, the transformation was only partial, maybe one of their eyes is black and they have ghoulified skin patches, but otherwise they're fine.

Now that’s a real unique idea, anon! I quite like it :>Hope this does your request justice!

Ada:

Ada notices right away, but chooses not to say anything to Sole. Who is she to judge based on Sole’s appearance? Ada wants to get to know this very interesting person– and hopefully, they turn out to be nice.

Cait:

Has no idea how Sole managed to avoid turning into a full-blown ghoul. Maybe they found a stupid amount of RadAway when they began turning? Either way, it certainly made Sole look uncomfortably badass. The single black eye, the weathered patches… 

Damn, Cait had to get to know this person.

Codsworth:

Is horrified when he meets Sole after their partial transformation. What on Earth happened to them?! He immediately sits them down, and offers them blankets and warm canned soup. Sole didn’t totally ghoulify, but Codsworth wants to take care of them regardless! He also asks if there’s anything he can possibly do for them to make life easier. 

After all, ghouls aren’t really welcome anywhere… 

Curie:

Stunned by such a medical phenomenon– who has ever seen a half-ghoul? She hopes to make good friends with Sole, as she’s genuinely intrigued by their unusual appearance! Granted, she is a tad intimidated by their scary appearance at first… 

Her curiosity will win out in the end, though!

Danse:

Isn’t sure how to feel about Sole. On one hand, they’re a human. On the other hand, they’re a ghoul.

Disgusting. 

Maybe one day Danse will come around to Sole, but for now, he’s very wary around them. He doesn’t understand their existence in the slightest.

Deacon:

Immediately impressed with how cool Sole looks. Maybe for his next facial reconstruction, he’ll consider something that unique. Although, that would make laying low incredibly difficult.. Yeah, never mind. 

Still, he has no qualms about sauntering right up to Sole and saying hello! He’s sure that Sole doesn’t get to enjoy many friendly interactions, since people tend to be racist(?) assholes. 

Dogmeat:

Cautious at first. He can smell the decayed flesh, and can see the ghoulish aspects to Sole’s appearance. Still, Sole also smells like a human! Dogmeat ends up very confused, until Sole offers him a few treats.

Dogmeat immediately trusts this stranger. 

Hancock:

He feels a slight surge of jealousy at first. Damn, why couldn’t he get that lucky? Then he feels some remorse– that poor sap may have it easier than other ghouls, but no doubt they still face some prejudice. Hancock will walk right on up to Sole, introduce himself, and offer them a spot in Goodneighbor. 

He’s sure that they’ll become good buddies! He feels super comfortable talking to them. 

Longfellow:

Frankly, he’s not too surprised. After all, there’s all sorts of weird stuff in the fog– why would a half-ghoul be so bizarre? He’s wary around Sole, but generally enjoys their company. 

MacCready:

Can’t even look at Sole. Their ghoulish features remind him of Lucy and that horrid day…

He doesn’t know if he can ever work for Sole, much less buddy up with them. Maybe he’ll change his mind one day, but for now, MacCready is keeping his distance. 

Nick Valentine:

He knows what it’s like to be judged on sight, so he’s not really bothered by Sole’s ghoulish patches. Their appearance is no big deal to him. Instead, Nick tries to get to know them. As long as Sole is kind, he’ll stick with them for awhile. 

Piper:

Curious about Sole’s story. How did they become half of a ghoul? Piper didn’t even know that was possible! Their appearance is a tad unsettling, with the one human eye, and one ghoul eye. 

Regardless, Piper would love to meet Sole– she’s trying not to judge people by appearances anymore. 

Porter Gage:

Doesn’t understand how Sole became… That. But hey, they’re not trying to eat him, so props to them! He’ll make some insensitive comments, or jokes. Once Sole is the Overboss, though, things change real fast. 

He cuts it out quickly, lest Sole decide that his piss-poor attitude isn’t worth his help in running Nuka-World.

Preston:

He’s rather confused, at first, He’s never heard of a half-ghoul before! Part of him is scared and nervous, but part of him is curious. Plus, he’s sure that Sole could use a friend! No doubt about it, as there aren’t many people friendly towards ghouls… Initially, he befriends Sole out of pity.

That changes once he gets to know them, though.

Strong:

Strong doesn’t care what Sole looks like. If they’re loyal, and able to defend themselves, that’s good enough for him!

X6-88:

Frankly, isn’t too impressed with Sole. Why’d they even allow a half-ghoul into the Institute? Doesn’t anyone know how many contaminates and rads Sole probably carries? 

Yes, they’re Father’s parent. But still! 

He’s going to need some time to warm up to Sole…

Hey if you don't mind making a react where the companions (All romanced except the obvious ones like Strong, Ada, Dogmeat And Codsworths. Also DLC companions too if you do them also!) Are Super protective of sole after someone threatens them please? Thanks again!

Thanks for the ask! I hope I did alright, some of these feel OOC but ah well.

Cait:

Honestly, she might punch the clown who dared to lay hands on her Sole. Don’t they realize that this is her sweetheart that they’re messing with? Cait will certainly curse the person out, as she pulls Sole close to her. She slips a hand over their side, and steers Sole away from the offending person, Cait proceeds to flip the bird. One hand on Sole’s behind/hip, the pair storm off. In a hushed tone, she checks in with Sole to make sure they’re alright.

Curie: 

Highly indignant that some random person thinks it’s perfectly fine to threaten Sole. Short and sweet as she is, this is one of the rare times Curie gets in someone’s face. Occasionally lapsing into French profanities, she gives the offender a very stern talking to. Sole gives her a delicate kiss on the cheek, and Curie laces her fingers in between theirs. With one final, huffy look of disdain, Curie gently pulls Sole away from the person. Sole certainly didn’t need such negativity in their life! 

Danse: 

In his long-winded, stern way, Danse launches into an explanation of why the offending person should be thanking Sole on bended knee for all they’ve done. Placing an arm around Sole’s shoulders, they rest their head on his chest as he prattles on. When he’s finished, he gives Sole a quick kiss on the cheek before steering them away from the person. He asks if they’re doing okay, and apologizes on the offender’s behalf. Sole takes Danse’s large hand, rubbing the back of it with their thumb to help him calm down. 

Deacon: 

He recognizes this joker instantly, they’re the moron who threatens newbies in town. Gently nudging Sole back from the person, he has his usual ‘I got this’ look. Deacon, smiling, rattles off the offender’s various crimes. Obviously, some officials would be glad to take the person in, if somebody let them know! 

The person threatening Sole stutters and stops, unsure of how a stranger knows such things. Deacon shrugs, a clever glint in his eye. With a few snappy parting words for the threatening person, Deacon gives Sole a forehead kiss before gently taking their hand in his. The pair walk off, leaving the offender stunned into silence. Turning to Sole, he makes sure they’re no worse for wear.

Hancock: 

Ready to shank the offender, but Sole stays his hand. Hancock settles for some choice words, and informs the person of how they should be respectful towards Sole. After all, Sole’s helped the whole damn Commonwealth quite a bit! Hancock has no qualms about getting right up in the person’s face, either. Once he says his piece and shoves the guy away, he turns with a roll of his glossy eyes. Gently placing one of his hands around Sole’s waist, Hancock waves to the offender sarcastically. He and Sole share quite a long kiss once away from the person. It’s as though Hancock is trying to reassure Sole they deserve to feel loved, and that one jackass can’t change that.

Longfellow:

For being so gruff and grizzled, Longfellow surprisingly doesn’t yell at the person. He simply tells them to shut up and shove off. Giving the offender a strong push away from Sole, Longfellow then turns to his beloved. He holds their hands, and asks if Sole is doing fine after that. Sole responds with a quick kiss, and they can’t help but laugh at his surprised face. He still can’t believe that someone loves him— and he certainly won’t fail Sole. 

MacCready:

While normally a bit reserved, he has no problem standing up for his beloved. Sole’s all that he has, aside from his son! And if some goober thinks they can treat Sole like garbage, they have another thing coming. He ends up causing a slight scene as he really lays into the person. Sole nudges him, smiling, as though trying to say it’s okay— at this, MacCready quiets down. With one final glare at the person, he gently takes Sole’s hand. Walking straight out of the bar, shoulders brushing against each other, he asks if Sole is doing alright after that mess. He also apologizes for causing such a commotion.

Nick Valentine:

He has very little patience for such nonsense. As he takes Sole’s soft hand into his rough, non-metal hand, he steps up to the troublemaker with a deep scowl. Telling them off in a rather curt voice with some biting remarks, he pokes the person in the sternum with his free hand to emphasize his point. Nick then leads Sole away from the bothersome person, asking if they’re alright while pulling them into a warm embrace.

Piper: 

With a sly look on her face, Piper takes Sole’s hand in her own. Stepping up to the rude asshole harassing her lover, Piper reads the person the riot act. Her free hand gesticulating wildly, Piper ends up smacking the offender a few times. Accidentally, of course. She ends by telling them to just walk away, before she really gets started. After all, Sole’s an angel in a nest of demons here in the Commonwealth. Turning to Sole, Piper caresses their chin & cheek gently. She makes sure they’re alright, and then leads Sole away from the moron trying to threaten them. No need to listen to their malarkey!

Porter Gage:

Pulls out a switchblade and starts cleaning it, glancing up at the person occasionally. Voice shaking with suppressed anger, he tells the offender to scram before he REALLY gets pissed. Pulling Sole close, hand on their hip, he gives them a rough kiss. As the person nearly trips over themself in an attempt to escape from Gage’s intimidating presence, he checks in with Sole to make sure they aren’t shaken up too bad.

Preston: 

Flabbergasted at first. How could someone just threaten THE greatest, most wonderful, sweetest person in whole Commonwealth? He steps up to the person, grabbing them by the shoulder. He proceeds to list off all the amazing things Sole has done, and how they don’t deserve to be antagonized by an angry civilian. While talking, he unconsciously steps closer and closer to Sole. As soon as their shoulders brush, Preston puts an arm around them. Sole takes his hand, and the duo turn and walk away from the offender. Preston checks up on Sole, and gives them a smooch.

X6-88:

Placing one hand on Sole’s side, X6-88 rests his other hand on the grip of his laser rifle. He says one thing only- “It isn’t wise, what you’re doing”. The person wavers under X6-88’s intense stare, and runs off after a few moments. X6-88 then turns to Sole, tilting his head. He asks if they’re alright, and pulls them a little closer to him. Sole kisses him, thanks him, and takes his hand with a smile.

fallout 4 faction leaders react to Overboss SS using nukaworlds raiders to destroy their own organization. (Raiders blow up the prydwen or the institute!)

Something a bit different, thanks anon! I hope this lives up to expectations!Father:

“How… How could they, how dare they…”

He stands, staring out the window of his room. The dusty and dirty raiders roam around, gunning down synths and workers alike. And his own parent, their so-called-Overboss. How… quaint. With a heavy heart he turns away, noticing how the traitor Sole had gone into the wing containing the reactor THEY helped set up. Issuing an evacuation order from his terminal, he desperately hopes some personnel can escape the raiders’ onslaught. Setting his aching body down onto his deathbed, Father feels the ground shake. And then, the world vanishes in a blinding explosion. 

Desdemona:

”Sole! You bastard, we trusted you!”

She thought they’d really wanted to help synths, with their smooth speeches about helping all people, even the synthetic ones. Her voice tears in anger as she fires rapidly at some raiders running in through the escape tunnel. Of course Sole got lured in by all that power, she thinks bitterly. And that had to happen AFTER they knew where the Railroad HQ was? Of fucking course. Wincing as P.A.M’s arm flies off and nearly hits her, Desdemona keeps firing, yelling for everyone to get out. But they can’t, both entrances are choked with raiders. And suddenly, Des takes a few fatal hits from behind, her crimson blood splattering over Sole’s cover-name on the chalkboard of agents. 

Preston:

”I thought you were different. But you’re just another selfish prick!”

Marcy and Jun are the first to go down. Sturges, yelling about raiders, alerts Preston to their presence. He quickly realizes that their leader is Sole… the terrifying Overboss he’d heard about from various settlers. With a pit in his stomach, he nearly hurls. Sole was so kind, so different than all these other folks! And they up and joined the worst raiders in the Commonwealth? Picking up his laser rifle, he holds his ground, telling the remaining settlers to run like hell. Fueled by rage and sorrow, Preston turns to face the oncoming storm, alone. With a strained, sad battlecry, he opens fire, trying not to look at his former general.

Elder Maxson:

”Dammit! What’s our new Initiate doing with— Oh. Oh hell no!”

He hears the screams first. Thundering feet and the steady hum of Vertibirds can be heard all around. Maxson can’t believe that Sole, a new Initiate to the Brotherhood, managed to get a hold of so many damn Vertibirds. They were ferrying an ungodly amount of raiders aboard, raking the sides of the Prydwen with their miniguns. As soldiers rush to defend themselves and the ship, he spots Sole. The rumors were true, their promising Initiate had become a stooge for raiders. Fucking raiders.Grabbing his gun to lead the charge, Maxson felt this was personal. How dare they do such a scumbag thing to the Brotherhood! But then, almost as soon as it began, the raiders and Vertibirds were leaving. As he watches in confusion, absentmindedly shooting a wounded raider, the Vertibirds all turn and hover a distance away. And then it hits him, as the ship shudders. They planted bombs. Yelling orders about evacuation, Maxson is cut off as the world erupts into painful, bright, noisy fire.

Companions react to Sole being the god of roasting people, especially when someone insults the companion themselves.

This’ll be a fun one to do… sorry it’s a bit short, I got a bunch of asks piling up :’)

Ada:

Doesn’t mind one bit that Sole’s amazing at roasting people— especially if it’s in Ada’s defense. She does get upset if it’s towards someone who doesn’t deserve it, though…

Cait:

Loves how Sole can destroy someone with a few words. She often piles on, adding to Sole’s insults easily. If it’s to defend her, she loves it even more. They make a good team!

Codsworth:

Might make a few jokes in cooperation with Sole, but doesn’t like when they go too far with the insults— even if it’s in his defense, he might remind Sole that kindness could work out a bit better.

Curie:

Has trouble understanding why Sole enjoys roasting people, and isn’t sure she likes how good at it they are. Granted, how willing they are to defend her does make her feel a bit safe. At least she’s not on the receiving end of Sole’s barbed tongue…

Danse:

Starts to get on his nerves after awhile. He‘d probably chastise Sole about how their roasts aren’t really giving the BoS a good name. When Sole does it in his defense, he still feels a bit off— why is Sole so crass and insulting? Yeah, that person was a jerk, but still...

Deacon:

As long as it doesn’t go too far, he digs it. He might add in a few snarky snippets here and there, but he mostly gets a kick out of watching Sole destroy those who deserve it. If Sole is defending him from some jerkwad, he’s reminded that his lucky they’re on his side.

Dogmeat:

Doesn’t understand what Sole’s saying, but it seems to intimidate those who get a stern talking to from Sole. He notices that some people seem to be talking about him, and how Sole steps in ASAP to defend him! He loves Sole to bits, and makes sure to give them lots of dog kisses. 

Hancock:

Being rather sarcastic himself, he finds it awe-inspiring how brutal Sole can be with their words. It’s almost like a fine art that they easily mastered! Granted, he only likes it if the person actually deserved it. if it’s an innocent person, Hancock tells Sole off. 

Loudly. 

If it’s in his defense, he will gladly team up with Sole!

Longfellow:

A fan no matter who/what is on the receiving end. He’s a jaded old man, what more would you want? Yeah, Sole can go overboard… but for the most part, they reserve their fierce words for jackasses who deserve it. If Sole is stepping in to defend him, he allows them to get it out of their system.

MacCready:

While he’s somewhat grown out of his childhood rudeness, the part that still remains secretly enjoys watching Sole’s artful performances when they roast someone. Of course, he does prefer it if it’s towards someone who actually deserves it. If Sole is defending him, he enjoys the scene a whole heap more. 

Nick Valentine:

Only a fan of it when the person is explicitly snarky first. Sure, Nick can be a bit sharp. But only if the person’s an asshole, you know? If Sole is defending him, Nick gladly steps it up with his own insults-- classy as always, though. If he’s defending Sole from someone else, Sole will jump in with the insults... Usually going overboard.

Piper:

She has her own sarcastic side, but she also believes that there’s a time and a place for snark. So it really depends on the situation for how she feels about Sole’s harsh mouth! Piper will help Sole if they’re defending her, using her own sharp tongue to share a few insults. If Sole is harassing someone who didn’t deserve it, she’ll turn her wit against them.

Porter Gage:

Absol-fucking-lutely loves how Sole can use their words to roast someone so hard they usually leave the area. He often joins in, but makes sure Sole takes the spotlight. He wouldn’t miss this show for the whole world. If it’s in his defense, he actually shuts his mouth just to let them go off on the jerk. It’s hilarious to watch!

Preston:

He’s not really a fan, even if the person ‘deserves’ it. He has one exception, though: Gunners. He might ask Sole to tone it down a bit, saying that it’s not good for the Minutemen if their general is a bit of a jerk. Even if Sole is defending him, he’ll still be a bit uncomfortable. 

Strong:

He’s kind of annoyed that Sole talks a lot, and he doesn’t understand what they mean half the time. Still, the fact they intimidate nearly all they meet is quite amazing! He’d prefer to fight, but seeing the victim’s funny face after being humiliated is good enough for him. If he’s being defended, he does get a tad annoyed. He’d prefer to defend himself, to be honest.

X6-88:

He said it himself, that he prefers to shoot than talk. Still, it’s amusing to watch Sole obliterate all who oppose the duo with mere words. It’s rather eloquent distraction, something X6-88 can appreciate. He usually stays quiet, just taking in how masterfully Sole uses their words. If it’s in X6-88’s defense, he’ll usually back Sole up with some choice words of his own.
