Taneali: Rivalry

Next instalment of my writings about Tanealian history: When King Paetee I assented in 6047 Gudele, the kingdom started to plateau and in 6062 the kingdom was plunged into war.  See, in 6044, perhaps seeing the prosperous Daab and Malalir, the Vorgabar struck their own alliance with the Zawii, which became known as the Brotherhood- “Limaipe”- by the Tanealians.  The Brotherhood despised the wealth, extravagance and prosperity of the Gudugas from the outset and being the competitive type, soon set out on their own quest to out-do the Gudugas- and thus the rivalry was born.  However, the Brotherhood lacked one grand ingredient that the Gudugas already had- a deep-centred moral compass.  For thousands of years, the Vorgabar had enslaved a race of intelligent species known as the Zozog.  It was in 6061 that the Zozog began a rebellion against the Vorgabar and laid claim to their original lands, that near present-day Kuvbixor (previously Fui).  This was not tolerated by the Vorgabar, who immediately retaliated with force.  The Zozog appealed to the Gudugas who, being sympathetic to their cause, sent out an immediate decease letter to the Brotherhood.  They obviously rejected the letter, apparently burnt it in fact, and thus the two great factions entered the first War of Orastim.  The Gudugas immediately sent forces towards Kuvbixor, claiming that they were fighting for freedom.  This, however, placed great strain on both the Hepid and Daab kingdoms, which had to procure large amounts of forces in such a short time.  King Paetee ate away at the excesses the kingdom had accrued through the prosperous times and managed to rally a huge amount of forces, of all Tanealian types- sorcerers, rogues (though slightly undesirable and not always loyal to the crown, they could fight), priests and priestesses, , Rae knights and warriors.  These forces joined the Hepid forces under the leadership of King Talimir the Great at Demazuz, marched their way past Garozir and rested at the foot of the Nisiit mountains near Tendal to plan their attack.  After a long campaign strewn with death and destruction, Kuvbixor was re-captured and a truce signed with the Brotherhood that established the current boundaries of the Foaq kingdom. Zozog

Let's explore the Zozogs a bit more in-depth.  To remind you, here's their description: They have four legs, with two capable of being hands.  They are covered all over in brown fur (hair), including on their face.  Their skin underneath is pink.  They are smaller than the Vorgabar, being only 1-2 m in height.  They have blue eyes and a small nose, with pointy ears.  Their skulls are curved back, but very strong.  They are noted for their intelligence.  They use Kotsigof as their language, though may have used another language before.  They also use the Arav script.  It is their skills and manpower that power the Vorgabar.  It is they who started the popularity of alchemy and who are the best at alchemy.  The only location where they are not slaves to the Vorgabar is Foaq.  The capital of Foaq is Kuvbixor.  They are relatively neutral because they don’t side with the Federation or the Brotherhood, though have a dislike for the Vorgabar, and vice versa. The history of the Zozog race is unfortunately a tumultuous one.  Originally peaceful peoples living in most of current Foaq and Vorgabar territory, they were forced into submission by the over-powering Vorgabar.  For many hundreds of years, all of the Zozogs remained slaves to the Vorgabar, performing labour-intensive roles within Vorgabar society.  After many attempted rebellions, the Zozogs' eventually managed to capture present-day Kuvbixor and much of Foaq.  Through the assistance of the Federation, mainly Malalir and Taneali forces, they retained their foothold in Foaq, which still exists today.  However, many Zozogs are still enslaved by the Vorgabar, who try to prevent the Zozogs escaping into Foaq territory.  As a people, Zozogs are actually quite intelligent and skilled.  The current government in Foaq is desperately trying to sway opinion in Orastim to free the remaining Zozog slaves in Vorgabar territory, but the Vorgabar have managed to thwart most of their efforts in the past.  Those in Foaq live in peace once more, but their past has left many scars on the face of a once happy and prosperous people.
