Does Science Disprove God? | Alexander Fink
Many people still think that you can’t believe in God and science at the same time. Has science truly disproved the existence of a personal God? Asking this question can trigger very interesting conversations about worldview presuppositions, the scientific method, and evidence. In this talk, we explore some of these arguments and their limits, ultimately showing that good reasoning points in the opposite direction: that a personal creator exists.
Alexander Fink is Director of the Institute for Faith and Science (Institut für Glaube und Wissenschaft) in Marburg, Germany (www.iguw.de). He studied physics at Bayreuth and St. Andrews (UK) universities and received his PhD at the Institute for Biophysics at the University of Regensburg. After working as an industrial product manager, he became the director of the SMD graduates' ministry (Akademiker-SMD, the German branch of IFES) until 2014. Since 2008, he has been a member of the ELF Steering Committee and has co-led the Scientists Network. He is the editor of the "Begründet-glauben-Podcast" (www.begruendet-glauben.org) and has produced three documentary movies, "Fascinating Universe", "More than My Brain", and “Is there meaning in suffering?” which were officially recommended for use in secular public schools.

The Victory We Have in Christ: Can We Resist Temptation? - John Stevens
"Every Christian, but especially Christian leaders, must fight a constant battle against temptation. This talk encourages leaders that through Jesus they can live a victorious Christian life and provides biblical strategies for resisting sin through the power of the Holy Spirit. It considers three crucial questions:
(2) The Victory We Have in Christ: Can We Resist Temptation? As believers, we are not powerless against temptation. Through our union with Christ, we have been set free from the rule of sin and can live in victory by the power of the Holy Spirit. This session will focus on the biblical foundation of our ability to resist sin, highlighting the role of Christ’s death and resurrection in empowering us. We will also explore how the Spirit enables us to overcome temptation daily."
Understanding Temptation: Why Are We Tempted? - John Stevens
"Every Christian, but especially Christian leaders, must fight a constant battle against temptation. This talk encourages leaders that through Jesus they can live a victorious Christian life and provides biblical strategies for resisting sin through the power of the Holy Spirit. It considers three crucial questions:
(1) Understanding Temptation: Why Are We Tempted? Temptation is a universal struggle for all Christians, but understanding its nature is the first step in overcoming it. This session explores what temptation is, emphasizing that feeling tempted is not a sin in itself. We will examine the sources of temptation—Satan, the world, and our own sinful nature—using biblical examples and teachings. By recognizing these influences, we can better prepare for the spiritual battle against sin."
God's Wisdom and the Foolishness of the Cross | Stefan Gustavsson
Paul’s famous words in 1 Corinthians about the foolishness of the cross and his decision to preach the cross, but not with wisdom, have often been misinterpreted. For many they stand as evidence of a strong anti-intellectual strand in Paul’s thinking and a clear reason for us to neglect apologetics and instead focus on other issues. In this session we will analyze Paul’s understanding of wisdom and foolishness as we look at four particular issues:
Paul’s thinking when he started the church in Corinth,
Paul's thinking when he wrote to the church in Corinth,
the cultural context of the church in Corinth, and
Paul’s message in his first letter to the church in Corinth.
What makes us anxious, worried, and afraid? Why do some people get more anxious than others? Is there normal and healthy anxiety? Is anxiety a sin? What does the Bible teach us about anxiety?
Though we think of the New Testament as a text that has been copied by hand for 14 centuries, this does not mean that we have to assume that the wording is unreliable. The first argument why this is not a logical conclusion is that of chronology. There is very little time between the writing of the originals and our first complete evidence.
