I think wicked swap aus, esp ones that swap glinda and fiyero is fun because for it to work, you HAVE to strip fiyero's autonomy at least mostly. Fiyero would never choose to be a puppet symbol of goodness willingly, to stay under the wizard and morribles control, so for it to be effective and not too wildly out of character the choice has to be made for him.
Alternatively i think Elphaba has to be the proactive one and drag Glinda by the hand out of emerald city for the "running away with elphaba after finding her" part to work out
