{Yobi, the Five Tailed Fox}—-{2007}

Yobi, the Five Tailed Fox is actually a South Korean animated film by Lee Sung-gang, and loosely based on the folk tales of Kumiho. It is easily found on Netflix, if it's still on there of course.

A hundred years ago, aliens crash into the territory of a five-tailed fox. After being stranded for a hundred years, they look to go home- but their attempts are foiled by one of the aliens, who messes up and gets kicked from the team for doing so. When the team regrets their decision, the five tailed fox has to find him... When she does, the only way to get him back to the team is to join a nearby school- in her human form- under the name of Yobi. She makes friends at the school, and learns lessons in her human form, and she falls in love with a boy named Geum-ee. In order to be with him, she must exchange her soul with a human's...

WARNINGS: None!

{Quality Meter}—-{4/5}

The quality of this film is kind-of like a tv-premier film, and the animation is very reminiscent of 4Kids shows. It isn't bad, but it isn't completely good either. It isn't as good of quality as a theater-feature film, but in it's own cartoonish way, it at least gets a four out of five for it's consistency and art style.

{Kawaii Meter}—-{1/5}

Cute moments are minimal, if any at all. The only cute things in this are Yobi's fox-form, but there really isn't much else that makes you go "awww!". There is a hefty sad moment in this, but not really cuteness.

{Storyline Meter}—-{3/5}

The storyline is kind of jumpy, going from the subject of the aliens then taking a sharp turn towards the subject of her soul. Although it's easy to follow for the most part, the parts of the story differ so much that you are left wondering why the first part was really as necessary? You don't really get to know where the aliens end up, after she joins the school and wants to become a human, you don't even really get to see them again?

{Kokoro Meter}—-{3/5}

It gets at least a 3 because of the one sad moment it does have, which is the end. Everything else in the movie is very light-hearted and funny, and nothing else about it really prompts another point in the Kokoro meter. But the ending sucks and it is really freakin' sad.

{Fan-service Meter}—-{0/5}

None! This is a kid's film, there isn't any boob-shots or panty-shots.

{Authenticity Meter}—-{1/5}

Not much is realistic in this- from aliens to shadows to supernatural beings... The only thing that does give it a point in realism is perhaps the fact that it pulls off the legends and folklore so well. Otherwise, it really isn't realistic in any way besides the school- and every aspect besides the aliens and Yobi.
