Listen- I was explaining to a friend how Cardigan, August and Betty were part of the same love ∆ story from the POV of the 3 characters..and it struck me..how fucking cool is that of Miss Taylor Swift.

Like she explored all the 3 coordinates of said ∆..all the emotions involved.

Betty: The girl who was young yet knew everything about love. Who claimed to know that James would infact miss her & come back 'once the thrill expired'. Who knew she would curse him for the longest time but still forgive him cause their love was like comfort of an old cardigan.

James: Whose song for Betty was a piece of an explanation and apologetic feeling.. she wrote from his perspective too..he's uncertain if she will forgive him, he's afraid she will turn him around yet he is there. And he's trying to own up to his mistakes.

August: Ouch! The POV of the girl who had the summer love, fling, whatever with James. This one blew me away the most. As in most love ∆ the 'other women' is made to be the evil one. But looking at the story from her pov..hearing her say 'august slipped away cause it was never mine, cause you were never mine' & that 'wanting was enough, for me it was enough' it just broke my hurt.

Kinda reminded me of Taylor's character in 'Babe'..the girl really was just living for the hope of it all. Ready to 'cancel all her plans incase he called and asked to meet behind the mall'

And once the summer love faded & James went back she's left with the realization there was no 'us' and he was never hers to lose.

In short: TaylorSwift is a genius & folklore is a masterpiece 😭😭💗💗
