crush aside, march views monroe as a close friend! monroe's temperament suits march because neither of them put much stock into words; actions are what matter. they have nothing to prove to each other, and everything to prove to the world - they don't care about each others pasts, they care about each others presents. so in that sense, he finds it relaxing to be around & work with monroe!

a friend requested wheedle 👀 wheedle is deeply intrigued by monroe because i think he likes anyone who can kick his ass because monroe is the only other survivor of his adventuring party after The Cave, but hasn't breathed a word about it to anyone. he hopes to schmooze some information out of monroe in order to blackmail gilroy (a famously wealthy man.)(totally unrelated though.)(obviously.)(wheedle is nothing if not an altruistic man.)

soo hemlock and josephine actually ran into monroe's parents (hantan and feale) a few times during their traveling days. neither of them realized monroe was their child until a year or two after he moved to mistria, however. in present day, they're both keenly aware of the lack of parental figures in his life, and hope to fill at least some of that void, in honor of hantan and feale.

"What do I think of him? Interesting guy. Used to see him around back when he was still in the guild. If you're looking for details, though, I'm afraid my lips are sealed."

balor views monroe as a friend, and a fellow stray who'd also prefers to keep his past buried. they crossed paths a few times in the capital and were amicable, even if they were never more than acquaintances at the time. unlike wheedle, however, balor is sharp. he could deduce what probably happened in The Cave, and has made a point to help keep monroe's new life a secret.

Why I haven't seen anyone talking about how Josephine gives Balor a hug during his 8-heart event?? This is the sweetest little detail in the entire cutscene. Yes, absolutely give this man a mom figure who will hype him up for his first date and run interference for him against his arch nemesis. Absolutely confirm my long-held suspicion that Balor is basically Hemlock and Josephine's fourth kid, who showed up on the porch one day and was forcibly adopted like a feral cat, tyvm.
