Been A While

It’s been a while since I’ve written poetry, I must admit, I lack inspiration sadly; Yet the voice I fell asleep listening to Is the voice I yearn and that is you.

It’s been a while since I’ve genuinely smiled, I must admit, it’s been hard times; Though the soothing guitar I hear you play. Love, you manage to take me breath away.

I’m socially awkward, weird I know That’s why I don’t get why you didn’t let me go. I gave you reasons, again and again, To break this off, to say “Just Friends”

You smiled and called me just like everyday. “Your awkwardness’s adorable” you would say. There’s no tricks at play, like I know you’d do, Whenever you’d say “I Love You”

It took me a while to say it back, I must admit, courage is what I lack; But remember when you say “I Love You” I’ll always say, “I Love You too”
