Week 19 A and B: Parachute (Acoustic) by Ingrid Michaelson
This sure was a journey lol but we got there!
This is another one of those songs that makes me think of one very specific person, not all the lines fit perfectly but there are enough there that it's undeniable. This is the first lyric art I decided right off the bat that I was going to gift directly to the person the song makes me think of, which is part of why I tried so hard to get this concept to work correctly. Not everything came out the way I wanted (that's half how art works and half how life works) but I think there's something deeply and humanly important about presenting imperfection with love. Art doesn't mean needing to struggle, and neither does love, but sometimes you find someone or something that's worth putting the effort into, even if it doesn't come out "right" it still comes out as yours. That hold true for things you create on your own and the things and relationships you make with others - nothing can ever be the same as what you made and that means it deserves to cherished.
The materials do not match between these two pieces: both have watercolor pencil and embossing powder but the one on the left has gel pen for the lyric and the one on the right has heat activated foil. The foil I had in the color that I wanted to use for the left piece must have been stored improperly before I got it because it would not make a smooth line. It frustrated me enough that I fully redid that part of the piece three times in total - and I think it was worth it because it looks nice!
