a friend posted a fb status asking what folks usually spend on their weekly food budget for one person and im shocked??? i mean i literally work on food access but it’s so weird to see it laid out like this.
i shared that for me & k, i average abt $60 a week on groceries, plus probably at least one fast food dinner - so $75 for two. considering we save a lot eating together i figure a single person would spend $35 to $40 per week, plus the fast food trip - up to $50?
just one or two people came in lower than or equal to my amt. the rest are saying $60, $75, up to $200 A WEEK per person??? i would be defaulting on my student loans lmao. and so many of them are saying oh it’s bc i don’t buy a lot of processed food, one person was even like “$80. i save a lot of money by buying mostly veggies :o)”
i technically live in a. ~food desert~ (don’t get me started on that phrase lmao) but i do have access to a car and public transit. i guess i don’t know where these folks live (tho i think mostly the US) or what they’re eating or how much money they make but christ some of them spend on food each month what k & i spend on rent each month omg!
