talia / thirty-four / wicked

talia was born, along with her brothers and twin sister, in tel aviv before her parents up and moved the whole family over to new york when she was little. her parents were relatively traditional and made sure that talia, nor her siblings, forgot their roots. she doesn’t pay it much mind these days but, you know, it’s still there. 

she was a relatively quiet kid growing up: she preferred her books to socialising and was often the kid rolling her eyes at the imbeciles in class than finding the class clown funny. 

she was pretty ambitious and valued intelligence over pretty much anything else. she had a small group of friends but she wasn’t exactly ms. popular which... suited her fine to be honest. she’s not that interested in grabbing the spotlight. 

one thing talia was always good at, however, was sticking up for the underdog. she stood up to bullies - much to her parents chagrin - and landed herself in trouble more than a couple times for telling the big-headed jock where to stick his insults. 

she got a little less timid the older she got and she ended up on the track team at high school which helped her make a slightly bigger circle of friends. she was hands-on, a little stoic but dedicated nonetheless. 

she didn’t really know what she wanted to do after school and actually ended up enrolling in the police academy on a whim. her parents were... not exactly impressed but she was doing something with her life so??? 

she actually excelled and she’s slowly made her way up through the police force and is now a lead vice detective for the nypd. that means if you’re involved in narcotics or anything else unsavoury she’s coming fo’ you. 

she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty and actually despises being behind a desk doing paperwork. her mind is constantly on the go and she refuses to let anyone else take over which is why she has such a stick up her arse now that they have fbi agents snooping around her case. 

basically she’s addicted to her work, can be incredibly mistrusting and is more than a little stoic but she has a big heart really. she’s a protector and she might not be great at advice but she’s good at punching the person who upset you in the face?????

MINERVA ‘MINNIE’ GUPTA. 50 YEARS OLD. SOUND OF MUSIC. ENGLISH TEACHER. GILLIAN ANDERSON.

married her childhood sweetheart, arjun gupta, when she was 20 years old. they lived (mostly) off of his parents money for a few years while he finished up school and she decided what the heck she wanted to do with her life.

eventually, she settled on pursuing a career in teaching and began her degree as soon as arjun finished his. all the while, they made efforts begin a family, something that they were both passionate about, but after nearly two years of trying and several doctors visits, they found out that conceiving a child simply wasn’t in the cards for minnie.

it didn’t take long for them to settle on the idea of adoption and after a few trips to india for visits with arjun’s family, it became clear to minnie that everything happens for a reason. it was by chance that the couple met with an adoption agent who introduced them to vihaan, but there was an immediate connection between them and the child. the paperwork was immediately filed to go through the motions of adopting him and though the process was long and grueling, it paid off when vihaan was finally able to join their home.

all you need to know is that vihaan is literally the light of her life and she will talk about him for hours if you give her the chance. 10/10 he comes up in every conversation she has at least three times. 

a few years ago, arjun grew ill and passed away, leaving her alone in their big house. she passes the time by doing lots of cooking, gardening, reading, and doting on her son more than is necessary. whoops.

she’s just a smol bean who’s doing her best to keep her chin up and stay happy. she’s an incredibly genuine and caring person who just wants to make the world a little brighter??? i’ll add more details to this later, but feel free to throw plots at me.

WANTED PLOTS:

VIHAAN’S PALS - minnie is pretty invested in her sons life, so it’s inevitable that she hasn’t met a few of his friends?? honestly, she probably loves them almost as much as vihaan and insists that he brings them over for dinner when she cooks because she just can’t help but want to take care of literally everyone all the time?

WINE WEDNESDAYS - i’d love a few guy or gal pals that can drag minnie out of her house once or twice every two weeks or so (because lord knows she won’t do it on her own) for dinner and drinks?? she might not be overly eager to leave, but if you tempt her with wine, she won’t put up much of a fight after that.  just pls get her out of her house that’s all i ask jhiorgwfasdjio

LOVE INTEREST? - she’s still pretty torn up about her husband passing away, but lately she’s been trying to make her way back into the dating scene. i’d love for her to have someone that’s genuinely interested in her and is willing to be patient as she gets comfortable with the idea of love again??? or failed dates are cool too, man, idc.
