it is bird central at the new house, we live a couple of minutes from the botanic gardens and the mountains, and there are a lottttt of native plants around which means a lot of native birds! its quite delightful :) sawyer is in bliss watching them all (and not catching them because they are too clever to land on the ground thankfully), anyway enjoy this picture of a lorikeet i sent mia a couple of weeks ago!

i’ve been rewatching stargate atlantis while we continue sorting out house stuff but i am continuing my pattern of choosing a show for background entertainment, which then backfires when i realise i can’t possibly leave it in the background and i need to sit down and give it my full attention because its so enjoyable LOL so the last few weeks i have been dedicatedly sitting down to watch a couple of episodes every night. i’m going to rewatch sg-1 next and i know i’ll get at least a season or 2 of acceptable background entertainment out of that before i succumb again and have to give it all my attention 😂

work has really been sucking me dry this semester, i’m so exhausted with the way things are working at the moment. i need people to step UP and take care of their own responsibilities so i don’t have to 😩 i am being buoyed by some exciting changes though! it’s been decided that i’m going to be the line manager for the academic support officers, they’ll sit underneath me and we’re going to rework how the service works from next year. this feels big, i’ve never had staff beneath me before. even though i still feel a little awkward in the space with no experience, and also being younger than the academic support officers, but i think it’s a good challenge for me and it’s also going to improve how we help students. i’ve been working with them closely over the past month and we’re going to really redesign academic support and the library to complement each other. we’re developing soooo many resources that i’ve wanted to develop for YEARS and i finally have the permissions/access i require to build us a new library website!!!!!! after trying to get the necessary access for years!!!! it’s going to house a lot of the material and services we’re working on together. i’m hoping to launch it next semester, there’s still a lot for us all to develop but we’ve all agreed that we don’t need to have everything ready next semester, we can roll it out slowly as we develop stuff. but having the new website will give us a frame to work inside of. i’m expecting we’ll go back to having classes on site next year, even if its not straight away i imagine the campus will at least reopen so we’ll be working back on site, so i’m trying to make sure everything we’re doing factors both online and on site support for students. the academic support officers are both remote workers so everything they do will happen online, but i want to be able to bridge what they offer in the online space with the library/campus to make sure its cohesive. there’s a lot to do!! but it’s so good to be doing it.
