I just wanted to say I really love how accurate your posts are to the manga, especially China and Japan. It feels like it's extremely rare to see "asexual" related content on tumblr and even rarer for the characters to not be infantilized and whitewashed. Again especially those two despite being some of the oldest nations. Sorry if this comes off as negative but I'm not sure how to word it other than I really appreciate your characterization and I hope you're still having fun with it.

I don’t even have a witty response to this. I thought the first time an anon brought up how I write China and Japan, it’d be to call me out for something. Though I want to do every one of these excellent characters justice, China and Japan are probably the two that worry me most, because - let’s face it - I am a white British woman. A white British woman writing comedy. Or attempting to. Depends on how you view my work.

Anyway, my point is this: I am very aware that I stand in a metaphorical minefield. That’s scary. But not because of what could happen to me. If I step on a mine, it’s not me that the blast will hurt the most. And I don’t want to hurt anyone, even unintentionally. That’s what worries me. The Hetalia characters aren’t just characters, but countries. They represent people and places who are very much real, and I do my best to write them with the respect they deserve. Apart from England, who is a man-toad and deserves no respect whatsoever. But I digress...

The fact you’ve sent this means I must be doing something right, and that makes me very glad indeed. Thank you so, so much, you are so kind, and I hope you have the loveliest week that it’s possibly possible to have.

You write for Romano really well - like people are dead set on making him some grumpy ass all the time but you see past that into his more caring side, that is mixed in Work the grump ass and it’s like watching the character in the anime

Joking aside, thank you so much for saying this. It’s an open secret that being complimented on my characterisation is my true weakness, so I love and appreciate it when people do that thing. I especially love that you mentioned it’s like watching Romano/South Italy in the anime, because that’s part of how I write. I try to imagine what I’ve written as if it was occurring in a strip or episode, to see how funny and in-character it is. (If I can’t imagine something I’ve written actually happening, I know it’s OOC; but if I end up chuckling to myself, I know it’s good). The fact that you’re able to imagine my writing that way as well makes me unbelievably happy, because it definitely means I’m doing something right. Also, Romano is just a really great character (boy, I could write essays about him) and I’m just so glad that I can do him justice for you!!
