We recommend annual blood work to monitor his white blood cell count.
His short break (Technically considered to be of medium length) is less flexible than a standard beak, lacking the hinge in the upper half and most of the sinus space.
He overheats easily and tires very quickly compared to birds with a standard length beak, who have fully developed sinus cavities.
Dici needs to be a house pet, partially due to his need for a temperature controlled environment.
He's a shy little man, easily overwhelmed in a crowd, who is most likely to come out of his shell with a quiet, mellow human, or a sweet tempered indoor hen.
Dici is not so much crate trained as crate obsessed.
I need you guys to understand that I did not put him in the crate to get photos of him. Even with no other birds out, he will not leave it for long.
He'll come out, fly a lap, and return immediately.
He might forage on the ground or go dance in front of the other birds' crates or apartments for a few minutes, but retreats back to his own crate to ground and reassure himself.
He tolerates show hold and being harnessed.
When harnessed, he allows himself to be carried, and is a decent shoulder Jockey, but he will still try to fly up onto the eves of building or carports in passing.
