He is tall I am small We are faded edges His voice a rumble, His words are grumbles As we walk between the hedges. My pockets are full of old dog treats As our gentle pace begins to beat the trees and sky and all of time Blossom all around us. The paths we walk are cyclical We follow them around His wooden stick and my tiny feet Treading the mossy ground. The sky grows full of gloom As we walk the foggy path Back towards the warm front room And my detol filled hot bath. Voices low from down the stairs Echo up the picture lined halls And there's a gentle sob down there Chased up by slamming doors. I am tall And he is small And has all but forgotten My face, the walks And the laughter filled walls And woodland now turned rotten. His coat pockets are full of broken seams And his wooden stick gone crooked All day he sits in his lonesome chair All day he sits just looking. But when the fog has cleared just slightly And his lined face paints a grin We're back where we're supposed to be As I remember him.

Because it is not about me, I generally only give the briefest version of my history of homelessness, illness, wheelchairs, nursing homes.  When asked specific questions, I have no issue sharing as long as it is beneficial.
