jay is loyal to morals, while jon is loyal to people.

the people jay lets into his life are the ones who have shown him they share his worldview and are willing to fight for it. the people jon lets into his life are the ones he trusts to see him beyond any mantle, trauma, or any "bad parts" jon doesn't want to show.

for jay, loyalty means standing by each other because of shared values, and defending those values no matter what happens. for jon, loyalty means standing by the people he loves no matter what they do or who they turn out to be.

jay will never betray his morals for anyone, and jon will never betray anyone for the sake of his morals.

neither of them is right or wrong in how they approach relationships, but those fundamentally different ideas of loyalty are what make them ultimately incompatible.

Aera hadn't been feeling well for the past week, a couple of weeks after she and Jay started their secret romance upon finding out they were soulmates. It had been wonderful with Jay but also a bit rough sneaking around so that her Dad didn't find out before they were ready. After seeing Mason, though, she wasn't sure how much longer they could hide their relationship since she was pregnant with his twins. Aera made her way to Jay's house after leaving Mason's, his son she had yet to meet wasn't home. "I need to talk to you. It's really important." She says after greeting him at the door with a kiss, biting the inside of her like nervously.

I don’t frequent instagram very often nowadays, and realistically I don’t talk or interact with anybody on social media UNLESS it’s through messenger. so I don’t comment on celebrity posts (or anybody’s posts) but there is one singer I’ve always directed my love to directly and it’s jay fung. I’ve listened to his music since I was in high school, which was a solid 6-7 years ago. I’ve always waited patently for his new music and as shitty as 2020 was, one thing I can rejoice in is that he gained a lot of new fans and his albums received a lot of love this year. he also won a lot of awards too. I’m really glad that he’s being recognized and it’s been close to a decade since jay started singing in hong kong but till this day I still consider him one of my most favorite artists. someone who makes genuinely lovely and heartwarming music, with an attitude to match. anytime I comment on his posts he responds to me and on the rare occasion I instastory his songs he also reposts them and thanks me for doing so. I love jay and I know it’s futile to think of celebrities as anything more than entertainment or to comment on their personalities as if you’re aware but I know he’s a good person who found the freedom to make the music he loves. so I hope that he’s always happy and healthy.
