Your gaze melts in my mouth like

a cough drop. The only thing that

soothes my rough existence is the sticky fingerprints we made;

They are half mine and half yours and

completely their own. That was a new kind of love, one I wasn't expecting.

A small human who was mine, and yours

and completely their own. My heart was torn apart and regrown. Each half

now beating as two wholes. I knew who I wanted to be

and he is a thought that never became a memory. My throat is sore

all the time and my skin

is no longer sticky

and I carry the loss of it all

in a hollow bed. A heart of mine
