Working Toward a Common Goal
Before we knew we could work in groups both Megan and I had come up with multiple ideas as to who we were going to interview, and where we were going to film. Once we discovered we could group up it was narrowing the field down.
Lambton Quay
Originally I had wanted to do a short film on Lambton Quay, as I have some personal attachment to it. Whenever my sister comes to visit me (about twice a year) she and I go and sit, drink a cup of coffee, talk and watch as the day passes infront of us. The clear change in time as different types of people walk and run over the sidewalk/footpath is astounding to me. What is even more striking is the fact that parts of it are essentially barren of the daily bustle once 5:30 rolls around.
Courtney Street
Megan and I both had the idea of possibly using Courtney Street, as it would be interesting to show the passing of time there, and the contrast of the weekdays (specifically Tuesday and Thursday which are not as popular for going out) and the weekends/Wednesdays. This was a great idea in theory however neither of us was completely sold on the idea. Which leads us to--
Cuba street was Megans first choice, and though I think that Cuba has a very interesting feel, I was certain it would be overdone. After a bit of thought I brought up the Night Market held on Friday. Never having attended myself, I found it exciting, and she thought it would be a great place to film, especially with the different types of people, and the cultures that are packed in such a small area.
We made a plan to go to the Night Market, met up, and threw out ideas while we were there, testing the camera out for both the video and the audio.

When it came to people it was a bit more complicated, we both had muddled ideas of people we would like to interview, but we had not asked anyone yet, and we were unsure of if our concept would fulfil the brief, or for that matter be captivating enough. It wasn't until after the night market that Megan had brought up a new friend of hers, and the possibility of interviewing her. We laughed about the absurdness of asking a new friend to be interviewed for a class, and I made a terrible Carly Rae Jepsen joke.
Both Megan and I agreed that the choice of Samantha Swords was perfect for what we wanted to do.
