Oh! Can I request Yunobo in a scenario where his s/o gets amnesia?
angst :)
My fault, this is my fault, this is my fault, this is–
(Name) stirred. Oh, thank Hylia, they’re alright, but…
He has to let the healers do their work. His job was to provide them with Fireproof Elixirs so they wouldn’t overheat, douse the tools in the elixirs so they don’t melt…
Needless to say, things are a mess. A horrible, horrible mess.
“What happened? Where am I?” came (Name)’s exhausted, raspy voice. Yunobo strained to listen, strained to hear them ask for him, anything. But they never asked.
He couldn’t blame them for it, but he couldn’t help but feel disappointed.
He was about to leave for more elixirs when he heard the last question.
“What’s my name?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Adjusting was hard.
(Name) didn’t recognize him. Didn’t recognize what Yunobo even was for that matter, and refused to take the Fireproof Elixir from him. They thought they were hallucinating.
They had to go to the nearby stables to recover correctly. As far as Yunobo knew, they could just leave after that and never come back…
And he would never see them again.
Yunobo cried himself to sleep almost nightly with that thought.
With each passing day, it seemed to be true. The days seemed to drag on forever. Was this some sort of punishment for failing them as he did? For being a coward? He was scared to even try to look for his (Name).
They don’t need me anymore.
However, that changed.
(Name) wandered in while he was out at work, asking for Yunobo by name. They still didn’t remember him, but they wanted to thank him.
“He saved my life, didn’t he?”
Yunobo ran as fast as his little legs could take him the minute he got the news, nearly knocking into every single Goron on his path. He met their gaze, and they laughed.
(Name) laughed. They laughed, and Hylia, there’s that smile…
Yunobo nearly barreled them over, barely managing to stop in time to stumble out their name.
“You came back?”
“Yes. I felt bad for.. reacting the way I did.” they glanced away, sheepishly rubbing their neck, “I heard you saved me. And I wanted to thank you, and… ask if there was any way to apologize for what I did before?”
Yunobo blurted out the first thing that came to his mind.
“Please stay!”
They blinked. Then laughed again.
“You’re… adorable. I guess I can’t say no.”
(Name) may not have remembered him, but this… Yunobo could work with this. He had them back. Now all he had to do is bring their memories back.
And that… well, he won’t accept failure so easily on that.
