So many people have described this movie as being totally weird, and incomprehensible, and hilariously over-complicated, etc. etc. etc. and... I don't think any of us got that from it.

We grew up with Eris, and Aldaiyon, and good fae bad fae, and the immortals in this movie felt spot on. They fucking nailed it. 

You've got the ones who always lie and the ones who never do, the ones who are always laughing and the ones who are always lascivious and the ones who are always broiling in their own agony. You've got the background immortals who are scrounging for power and control, making allegiances where they can find them, loyalty only being worth it when survival isn't worth more.

We grew up between worlds, sitting in class with our heads in the multiverse, and this movie felt familiar and satisfying and realistic. Even the parts that were overdone, even the barely comprehensible battle sequences that went on so long they got boring-- it felt realistic and familiar and comfortable to me.

Flat-faced-beings, and human-demons, animal people and alien humans. We know these from Zyrdon. The elephant guy (did you catch that his name was "Nesh" as in "Ganesh"), and the rat, and the ram, and Caine, etc. These are familiar. 

Androids with personalities who are treated like toys? We know this from Mron. We know how this shit works. The RMV scene was fucking amazing, especially Bob encountering the other droid with his same face. 

Immortals not really thinking of familial ties the same way mortals do, everybody being coded queer as fUCK, murder and mutilation not really being a thing people think too hard about, while binding contracts are SERIOUS BUSINESS-- all of these things ping my Aldaiyn radar.

I've been looking forward to seeing the kind of fantasy that our generation comes up with, and while we're not quite there yet... it figures that a movie that had ALL of us going "this doesn't seem that weird to me, idk what everyone's talking about" was in large part directed by a trans woman.

The door to Professor Trent’s office was cracked open, showing to students and faculty alike that he was not only in the room, but also available for whatever they may need. The soft knock drew his eyes up from the marking he was doing and he ran them over the student stood in his doorway, “Come in, have a seat. How can I help you this afternoon?” He asked.
