It’s really really really important to engage with media about people who are nothing like you, fictional media especially because it forces your brain to be more creative.
We’ve been given such a gift as human beings to be able to explore the realities of people who are of different races, from different cultures, have different disabilities, different genders etc etc, people who just have completely different perspectives from us!
We get to learn from and about each other, and a special part about fiction is that we get to know who other people are in their wildest imaginations, we get to engage with these floaty intangible parts of humanity. We just get that, we’re naturally inclined to give each other that even.
I really think we take the wild amount of peeks we’ve been gifted into each other’s worlds for granted. Sometimes I’m confronted with the fact that a lot of people only consume media or engage with art that’s about people that are like them or that’s created by people that are like them and it’s like… you’re wasting itttt you’re wasting lifes’ blessings and tbh it really shows
