This poster is available at the last three Anthrax shows in California starting tonight in Riverside! It’s a limited edition screenprint on 100lb museum quality, Cougar white stock paper. It’s 18x24 inches and is a 4-color print with one glow ink! Super cool under a black light, as well!!! After the tour, I’ll have very limited quantities of my ap’s available on my website. Here are sketches I made for the @ANTHRAX 40th Anniversary print. Which is now up in the shop! . The idea was to encapsulate the band's 40 years. I'm not going to post the other sketches in hopes the band & @globalmerchservices hire me again #nudgenudgewinkwink . So yeah, I took their character from the #FORALLKINGS album cover painted by @thealexrossart & from the #BLOODEAGLEWINGS video. Since that was the direction the band has been going in since 2011. I thought it would be cool if that character was holding the guys in the palm of his bony hand & the NOTMAN trying to escape or join the band. . As you can see the pose & the gesture changed with each sketch. It started out kinda static. I needed to familiarize myself with the character more. Like...I dunno...give him some HAIR and research the crown. Like how teeth were used in the design. I did my best to find any album cover, tour backdrop, or music video where I could learn more about the character's costume. Half the job of being a freelance artist is research. . Steve made a ton of great suggestions - like changing the angle of the figure which pushed me to change the angle of the head. He suggested a way to create movement with the hair & have it bring the piece together. THANKS STEVE! He also taught me how to paint gold! So expect gold on every piece I do now!!! . I drew the staff & #thraxagram in illustrator & then #lightboxed it for the sketch. BIG timesaver! . I work at 8.5x11. So drawing the band in the sketch would've been difficult. I tried and hated it. I opted to bash some of their press photos into one photo to get the effect I wanted - the band members being recognizable. You can see in the final piece. . I hope you dig! .
