there’s a lot of shitty fanon around jedi and sith that i wish would die in a ditch someplace but the ‘grey jedi code’ has got to be one of the most self importantly delusory ones

i’ve seen a few versions floating around during my time in hell and they’re usually longer than both canon-ish codes put together and/or rambly as shit, like

the jedi code is a meditative mantra. it’s short and sweet and to the point. same with the sith code, though that has the bonus attribute of being reactionary tosh

grey jedi ‘codes’ tend to be closer in length and purpose to the nicene fucking creed and it’s like. statements of faith are not inherently invalid, but the point of the creeds are that they are primarily statements of faith, not meditative mantras

but then. grey jedi fans and advocates tend to be ‘not like other jedi’ ‘here let me show you how smart i think i am’ pretentious fucks prone to disappearing up their own assholes, so like

not to dive back into this mess but it’s astounding how many centrist and “we don’t know how the force works!” takes I keep seeing when we have literal and conceptual evidence in canon through the films and the shows of what balance actually means in regards to the force and why the dark is a corruption of it that debunks the whole ‘using both light and dark is balance’ mythos

I just never understood grey jedi, as a concept. It feels like bothsidism where one side blows up planets while the other side is, arguably, apathetic and hidebound. So since they're both equally terrible, we need a side in the middle.

it really is Force centrism. that’s it that’s the entire thing. ‘well we don’t want to be the people who commit genocide but we also don’t want to be the people who oppose genocide so we’re just going to sit in the middle and pretend like this makes us morally superior’
