Yeah I wish I could get one of the monster maker ones. I used to have one.

I'll post a review or at least working pictures when I get the new head. Since I'm not doing fitted masks on it, I think that it should work out okay. My only concern is that it will be too small. I sculpted my Khajiit on a mannequin head that had a circumference of around 20" and I had to bulk it out a bit. This head is supposed to be 22" so hopefully it will work out better.

Monster makers started making their own heads about a year ago (instead of reselling the CFX ones). One of these days I'd really like to try out their new female head. But at $70, I can't justify it as an impulse buy :)

Where do you get yours?

I just needed a lightly durable head for sculpting resin masks on, so I ordered what I believe is a mannequin head off of amazon.

My current lightweight head that I use is a discontinued Monster Makers head (which is actually the display head made by CFX). Right now, it's tied up with casting the clicker masks so I wanted another lightweight head in the interim.  I'm hoping this one will suffice.

Where is you get your heads from?

Those heads are the sculpting armatures from Composite Effects (CFX). I wanted them specifically for sculpting silicone masks on, so that I could use the head as a core with the completed sculpt. They are much, much sturdier than the display heads.

I use the "Large Joe" display head for sculpting my resin masks on (like the plague doctor and the clicker mask). It is much lighter weight than the armature heads and the surface is much more easily dented. Since my resin masks are molded in silicone (versus the fiberglass of the silicone masks), it is much easier to demold them. As I learned from the catastrophic Moira mask build, you need a heavy duty core with the fiberglass molds and the display heads just won't cut it .

Also, I should note that the "Large Joe" display head by CFX is the same head that MonsterMakers sells as their sculpting armature.

Alright, friends...  I've played Assassin's Creed 2 and supervised a playthrough of the first Assassin's Creed (watched my partner play it), but I haven't played Brotherhood, Revelations, or 3. 

Now that Black Flag is out and looks awesome (thanks to everyone blogging about it on my dash!) I'd like to play it... but I have very limited time. So my question to you is:

I would probably play through 3 before approaching 4, but do I need to play Brotherhood or Revelations to further my understanding of the plot (or is a wikipedia summary sufficient)?
