Sonic Prompt (I got a new keyboard and wanted to test it out xD It glows colors! Yeee~)
PROMPTS ARE CLOSED INDEFINITELY. Just ironing out these remaining ones while working on my own stories :)b
Prompt:
The Resistance’s base, full of Force’s recruits, were also home to those affected by Eggman’s tyranny and wrath. Not excluding those of the… smaller… variety, unfortunate families also sheltered within the lower sections of the underground bunker, which helped keep them far away from the terrors of the war.
Today, Silver and Blaze were asked to watch the children, while Amy Rose was texting Sonic on her Miles-Electric, hoping to keep in touch with him after so long of being out-of-touch.
In her heart, she used it as an excuse to remind herself that her hope wasn’t for naught. He was alive… and with that renewed hope, she looked up from her chat to see Blaze struggling to keep some kitten children under control.
She figured, out of the charity and goodness of her heart, that the two ‘inexperienced’ travelers might need some help… She was, obviously, spot-on in her accurate deductions of the situation, as both the future hedgehog Silver and the dimensional jumping Blaze–although tag-teaming very well–were unfortunate in their own ways… trying to control a bunch of rambunctious kids when they were really there to help with the war efforts.
But everyone must play their part… so…
The children pounced on one another in light squabbles, tugging on Blaze’s arms and pulling her down to their level, making her back hurt at the jutting motions while the children argued about something trivial. Seems a doll was misplaced in the wrong ‘crib’ which was a makeshift cardboard box with a blanket across it to hold the ‘baby’ they were playing with, a strung together pile of straw that looked more like a limp voodoo sack then a ‘beautiful girl’s doll’.
Silver, not at all experienced with children either, decided to step in and use his powers to have the children fly around in the air for a moment while he spoke with Blaze to the side of him. It caused the conflict to cease and even the boys were unable to get at each other from this height within the open air. “This isn’t working…” He admitted, knowing the solution he had found was incredibly temporary. “They’re so full of energy… and this space is just too small for them.”
Guilt swarmed them both, looking around the dusty old storage unit they were using as a basic ‘daycare’ while the adults were either fighting or supporting in their own ways in the war.
Everyone had to take their turn doing ‘something’, and today, Blaze, Silver, and Amy were tasked with childcare.
“Amy?” Silver finally called over to her, but Blaze just sighed, her tail swishing and twitching at her obvious frustrations and stress that she couldn’t properly articulate. That… and she probably didn’t have the heart to admit she was overwhelmed… This sort of thing wasn’t her speciality in the slightest.
“It’s good for them to move about, but it would be wiser to work on having them seated… actively engaged in…” She looked around to see the place was pretty much trashed, though it already was just a place people stuffed their extra spare tools and supplies in anyway. “Something else.” She tugged on her gloves, which had slipped somewhat from the excessive pulling the children had done, and then rubbed the side of her back, trying to be helpful, but understanding this wasn’t the right way of ‘distracting’ the children.
If they weren’t playing ‘tug-o-war’ with Silver and Blaze’s arms for their attention, they were at each other, which wasn’t good in the slightest when trying to get the children under control but also keeping them happy.
Silver kept his careful eye on them, swaying his hands back and forth to try and ‘lull’ the children but for now, it was just a ‘novel trick’ until they grew bored of that again.
Blaze had already lit a single finger on fire, then all the children tried to snap and cried out in whines when they couldn’t summon their own ‘spark’. She wasn’t going to pass around the flame, so they cried and complained, before fighting amongst each other–as previously stated…
Amy smiled at the two looking so hopeless when it came to the young, rescued children. She knew they were being good sport about the rotations the Resistance set up so their families could rest a bit and be supported during this trying time for all involved. Eggman’s plots were so dastardly, he probably had no comment about the lives he was ruining from his twisted and deviant takeover of major cities and towns alike.
All over the world… this was the scene everyone was forced to face.
She hopped off a storage box, knowing they needed some ‘divine’ intervention, as Amy was known to be quite an angel with children. “I’m sure we can find something to keep their attentions… whhhillleee also not having them out of eye sight.” She pointed a cute finger up at them flying about, enjoying it, but the space was limited and it was clear some of them realized they weren’t ‘flying’ in the directions they wanted to go, and started to resist their ‘air prisons’ by flailing their legs and arms out.
Gasping a bit, Silver swirled his hands as though conjuring a tornado, circling his arms with the notion as the children now were in a ‘lazy airstream’ where they rotated and flew in a circle, hoping to once again keep their attentions from acting out again.
“Digging around might prove to be some good.” Silver nodded, looking to Blaze within his hurried panic to agree speedily with Amy, “I’ll take this shift, why not go help Amy find something for the children to play with?”
“And if all else fails-!” Ever the optimist, Amy winked to Blaze, “We can just build a fort out of these spare parts left behind in this old room! It’s dreary as it is, with one lamp swaying above us like some kind of horror movie… That’s it!” Amy’s glee overcame her comforting speech, bringing her bundled hands up to her cheeks.
“We’ll set up a movie!” She cheered, squeeing as she tapped her feet interchangeably against the dusty ground beneath her in her brilliant excitement over forming a perfect new plan!
Silver and Blaze looked to one another, then to Amy. “A… movie?”
“Don’t tell me you haven’t watched one before!?” Completely in shock, Amy looked up at the children, “I’m sure these little kittens would love to see some real cinema! And nothing with fighting or war, either!” She began to search about, finding a monitor and two speakers.
At first, Amy proposed acting things out, but after texting Sonic, he suggested using a Miles-Electric to connect the monitor and speakers to. Tails would have been proud.
Thankful for that advice, she hooked up another spare Miles-Electric and got the kids watching Phantom of the Opera.
“It’s a little spooky, but it shouldn’t be anything ‘nightmare’ inducing.” She thought about ‘certain scenes’ and decided to ask Silver and Blaze to watch it too, “Just in case.” She blinked and kept her eyes closed as a slight prickle of worry nagged at her musical-loving heart, tilting her head with a sweat drop to reveal her awkward unsureness…
“But it’s a classic! Should be alright, at-at least… That much.” She decided to just let the movie play as she texted Sonic again on her own.
Amy: My brilliant strategist! How’d you know exactly what we needed when we needed it the most?
Sonic: Cute, but flattery won’t win the war against the bundles of joys! Keep at it, Amy. You’re Silver and Blaze’s only hope!
She chuckled at Sonic’s silliness, and blushed slightly at him calling her cute… Or… was he just calling her words cute? E-Either way, s-same thing, right?
Amy: It’s been so long since I’ve seen the Phantom. A beautiful Hedgehog singing a gorgeous song, but tortured all his life for a deformed face… forced to hide his gift and talents, falling for the girl he taught in her sleep…
Sonic: Oh, is that what it’s about? Not an actual ghost..?
Amy was once again thrown for a loop, and sent a meme of Classic Sonic running up a loop-de-loop before slipping and falling down in a circular spin, his chibi-arms and legs spread out in dramatic, old-school animation affect.
Amy: WHHAATT??? You haven’t seen the movie either!?
Sonic: Not in particular. I haven’t seen a movie in years. I am a movie!
Amy rolled her eyes.
Amy: That doesn’t count??? Next time you’re resting here, we’re watching it! Together! No Recruit or Little Other Sonic allowed!
Sonic: Haha, alright. If you say so. But it sounds a bit romantic… I’m not really into sappy kind of movies…
Amy: SAPPY???
She had to put the Miles-Electric down, it was too much, but she heard the ‘ding!’ of another message and quickly picked it up again, unable to resist seeing his messages to her… His replies… it was a reminder that he was alive and well, and she couldn’t help but love that immediate comfort of him texting speedily back to her.
Sonic sent a meme, super outdated, but it was a gif of his old ‘shocked’ face back when he was filmed by the news at Station Square when Chaos was on the loose in the sewers, and G.U.N were mistaking him as Shadow.
It became a meme spread around so long ago… One of the many Adventures the blue blur went on… She found it funny how he didn’t have any other ‘modern’ image but that one.
Sonic: Was I wrong?
Amy: So wrong! It’s embarrassing! We gotta get you cultured…
Sonic: … Wasn’t ‘cultured’ a… inappropriate saying?
She face-palmed herself.
Amy: Okay, Boomer, we’re gonna really need to get you updated on some things… For starters, why is that the only saying you remember!? And furthermore, you were trapped for a couple months, not years!!! There’s no excuse for how out-of-touch you’ve been with the world!
Sonic: … Boomer? Like… Sonic Boomer?
Amy: UGH. Emergency, all forces respond, we have an outdated man over here TAT
Sonic: -_- Stand down emergency, I’m trying to be ‘outdated’ by a woman who thinks I NEED to step into theatres in order to live!
Amy: … You still think Movies are watched in theatres only???
Sonic: I wouldn’t have suggested using the Miles-Electric setup for your movie night if I DIDN’T know you could use the internet Amy.
He sent a ‘rolling eyes’ emoji and she almost felt like crying.
Amy: How have I never known this before? Didn’t we see Chao in Space before!?
Sonic: Oh, yeah! Great movie! I loved the part when-
Her eyes were suddenly pulled from the chat to see everyone debating something odd.
Sonic: … You haven’t messaged back in 0.5 seconds with a paragraph of words I’ll only skim through, yet… What happened? Everything okay?
Amy: You? Worried? Haha! No stress. It seems the children are CONVINCED the Phantom looks like Silver… they’re demanding him to sing.
She photoshopped quickly through the Miles-Electric Silver’s picture she took with the children all pointing at the monitor and him, putting a crudely placed ‘half-mask’ over his eye.
Sonic: Yikes, looks eerily like Infinite…
With that statement… she froze.
Looking at her picture and then Silver, she thought maybe ‘Phantom of the Opera’ wasn’t the thing for the kids…
Before anyone made the connection, she cut that plug–so to speak–and started them on ‘C.A.T.S’ the musical.
Amy: Change of plans, I’m having them watch a new musical now.
Sonic: Oh? Sorry, didn’t mean to ruin the vibe…
Amy: The vibe??? What era are you literally on, anyway?
Sonic: I just asked Little Me if ‘Vibe’ is too old, he just blinked and raised an eyebrow, frowning at me.
Amy: He’s not a reliable source for ‘modern slang’, Sonic…
Sonic sent back a Classic Sonic picture he had taken with a side-eye expression.
Sonic: Got a kid right here who’s also judging me.
Amy: Haha! And for good reason! Aww, he’s like that one Monkey meme!
Sonic: Monkey Meme..?
Amy: Seriously? That one’s old! Come on, Sonic…
Sonic: Monkey Meme or not, I’ve got a war to win. Any investigation reports on Infinite’s weakness..?
Amy: Nothing… Oh no.
Sonic: What? What happened?
Sonic: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3…
Amy: Very funny, I had to stop texting how silly you are with the times to find out Blaze has some ‘strong’ opinions on humans playing as cats…
Sonic: LOL. Send me pics.
Amy: I’ll do you one better…
The video she sent Sonic in secret ended up being edited by him later. They started using her twitching eyebrow to express distrain for the–now recognized as illusions–past villains showing up and joking about things through her reactive expressions while Amy secretly filmed her watching C.A.T.S.
Amy: Do you sing, Sonic?
Sonic: No, why? -I’m lying, but go on?-
Amy: LOL. We should sing Phantom sometime… I miss you.
That last line caught her own feelings off guard, but she didn’t regret it.
He didn’t message back until all the war was over, and the clean-up community was in place…
Finally, after so long, she got a message.
Sonic: Miss Christine DYING of boredom. What are you doing later tongiht?
Sonic: *Tongiht.
Sonic: *Tonggit
Sonic: … That time when the night comes along.
Amy: Softly, gently, night unfurls its splendor?
Sonic: … What?
Amy: Let your mind start a journey through a strange new world.
Sonic: ???
Amy: Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before.
Sonic: I’m missing something here…
Amy: Let your soul take you where you long to be! -super high beautiful note!-
Sonic: Oh, you're quoting the music or something?
Amy: Only then can you belong to me…
Sonic: Creepy.
He sent a meme of Blaze holding up her hand over her eyes to avoid the ‘cringe’ of whatever scene in C.A.T.S they were doing.
Amy: You alone can make my song take flight.
Amy: Help me make the music of the night.
Sonic: Did Silver ever end up caving and singing to those kids..?
He sent a meme of Blaze blinking rapidly for a moment, as though watching something that took her back while watching C.A.T.S that very night he was mentioning.
Amy couldn’t help but laugh, trying not to wheeze while she picked up rubble and put it in a trashbag.
Amy: Yes, actually. His singing was the only thing that made the kids sleep that night. I honestly think he has a hidden talent. Blaze even fell asleep with them!
Sonic: The Phantom of the Meows, for sure.
Amy: It’s over now the music/meows of the night~
Sonic: Hah. So… Music tongiht?
Amy: Hehe, let’s get your thumbs texting ‘Tonight’ right or at least get spell check to save you first, buddy.
Sonic: Buddy? … I’ve been reduced to ‘Buddy’?
Amy laughed.
Amy: Serenade me with a song sometime, I wanna hear your best, too, Sonic!
Sonic: … Okay. If I can find my old guitar again, you got it! But no ‘sappy’ stuff, alright?
Amy: Deal! ;3
