Despite being stood up the last time he’d tried to meet someone off a dating app Elliot was making another attempt. Dating apps seemed like the only way he could meet anyone regardless of whether or not he wound up dating them. He just moved to town and didn’t work so really the internet had become his way of networking when he didn’t want to just try his luck out in the wild.
Elliot didn’t know much at all about Ford the man he was meeting tonight. He knew what he looked like (hopefully) and what info he could learn from his bio but that was really it. It wasn’t enough to judge a person on and they hadn’t really chatted about anything in particular on the app before Elliot asked him out for drinks. It was a casual invitation. Elliot really wasn’t sure what he was looking for by putting himself out there outside of desperately trying to move on from his ex though he was also looking for avenues outside of the dating world to fill that void. Buying shit loads of video games and vintage consoles was also helping his heartache. His ex had never been a fan of video games and was notorious for trying to kick Elliot off them.
Elliot arrived at the bar right on time and gave a quick scan of the room fortunately it wasn’t very crowded so it was easy to see who was there. Honestly, he’d fully prepared himself to be stood up again but to Elliot’s surprise he was actually there. Elliot cleared his throat as he approached him. “Ford?” Elliot asked trying not to be awkward. He really didn’t know what to say and just hoped he had the right guy and hadn’t just approached a lookalike. Elliot’d never actually met someone he’d only ever seen pictures of before.
