NEW RELEASE TUESDAY!!! Third Eye Blind - Dopamine
Unless you’ve been following Third Eye Blind long after their hype died out, their new album might have slipped under your noses. The San Fran alternative rock band have been commercially popular in the late 90s and early 2000s with hits such as “Semi-Charmed For Life”, “Jumper”, “Never Let You Go”, and “Blinded”. Despite not having new material since their 2009 release Ursa Major, Third Eye Blind have been on the road playing classics as well as new songs that hinted of a comeback album. The album was constantly delayed, leaving fans patiently waiting for 3EB’s return.
Perhaps the wait was worth it because Dopamine does not disappoint. For the most part, this album is a listening experience. It has the most sonic and relaxed textures that most followers recognize in the band’s discography. While they aren’t the poppy, crowd-jumping jams you would expect to hear, these songs have catchy melodies and structures. Once again, frontman and songwriter Stephen Jenkins can prove to write memorable, and surprisingly dark, lyrics. Songs like “Rites of Passage” and “Shipboard Cook” are very suitable examples of this. Third Eye Blind have released a music video for the lead single “Everything Is Easy”, which musically sounds like 80s new wave bands such as The Cure, U2, and The Pixies.
All in all, this album shows that bands like Third Eye Blind aren’t going down that easily. This is one of the soundtracks that hopefully catches the eyes and ears of music lovers everywhere. It’s worth checking it out, so GO BUY IT!!!
