My Rambles
Despite my age, I went back to school to study forensic science because of a TV series known as CSI or Crime Scene Investigation. This was an American show from the late 1990s and early 2000s, but I discovered it later in life—about 8 to 10 years ago. This show really inspired me to become a forensic scientist, but unfortunately, in my country, you have to go through a lot of hurdles, which is another blog post altogether. Back to the topic, I rewatched it, and this quote by Gil Grissom, the supervisor of CSI and a forensic entomologist—how cool is that!—really stuck with me: 'That's the difference between you and me, Phillip, is that I get the same paycheck regardless of what I testify to.' If only real life were like that, where the supposed truth seekers, the real people who bring justice, are principled enough not to be bought. With the recent happenings in my country, where justice is bent and evidence can be manipulated, it's truly devastating to witness. But ven without a current role in forensic science, I am committed to being a catalyst for change. By valuing my integrity and standing firm against pressures, I aim to inspire others to do the same. I just hope that the future generation of forensic scientist and criminalistics will remain men of science.
