"Last Light in the Woods of Michigan" 11" x 14 " oil on gessoed hardboard, 2019 Sunset in the hardwood forests near Lake Michigan is an otherworldly experience I was lucky to chance upon this past summer. The fading glow of the sun lingered on twisting branches, and carpets of leaflitter glowed like coals in a fire. This painting was a bit of an experimental effort for me, and felt very different than the typical scenes I paint.
