Happy 29th Anniversary

The Yu Yu Hakusho anime made its debut on Fuji TV on October 10th 1992. The 112 episodes were broadcast on Saturdays at 18h30. The "Dark Tournament Arc" was rebroadcast this year by BS Nippon Television.

Hunter x Hunter got a Special Illustration by Takahiro Yoshimatsu (character designer and animation director) in this week's Weekly Shounen Jump N°45 (October 11, 2021) to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 2011 anime. I wonder if Yu Yu Hakusho will get anything special in 2022 to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

We've already got the 25th Anniversary Blu-Ray BOX, with two new OVA, and Special Illustrations by the anime staff in 2018, among other merch. But, it would be super nice to commemorate the big 30 with new stuff, as nothing special was done to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the manga last year T_T

Thanks for asking! Ma’at is @cinlat‘s character (her husband Tuathal is mine in that ship) so I will do her daughter Zaria. She has 5 outfits unlocked atm, two of which are matches with her sister’s and the other three are all her.

Items:

The whole set is the Resolute Protector Armor, dyed white and dark red to make the splatters look like blood instead of the blue the armor originally is.

Tell us why your character wears this. What does it sayabout them? Why do they like this set?

Like her twin sister, Zaria is a bounty hunter who takes her job very seriously. Neither is naive about the dangers so armor, real armor that can take a beating, was important. Especially with how fire obsessed Bridae is and Zaria’s love of explosives. The mess on the armor is both a side effect of their work and a way to get under their family’s skin when they come home covered in gore. Her sister has a matching kit. (Pretty sure they chose white just so blood would stand out better on it)

When she isn’t matching her sister she preferes the middle outfit below, simple and comfortable. The dresses are because their mother insists on them dressing in a manner fitting of their station so those are her “casual” and “all out” dress up looks.

So when Torian realizes how he feels about Noara his first reaction is to be even more protective of her than before, he already had concerns about how reckless she was but knowing how much she really means to him makes it all so much worse. 

Noara, for the first little while, gets a bit clingy. It’s not so much the possessive kinda of clingy, but more that she never knew how comforting being close to someone physically could be. That and a mixture of reassuring herself that this is real, because she had written off the possibility for so long that it feels almost like a dream.

18. Who leaves little notes in the other’s one lunch? (Bonus: what does it usually say?)

Torian leaves her notes, maybe not in her lunch per say, but in their room if he has to leave while she is asleep or showering. It’s usually just little things, saying where he went or what he is doing, and ended with a quick “I love you”. As she learns more Mando’a his notes start being written in his native language instead of Basic. 

23. Who comes up with cheesy pick up lines?

Noara for sure, she learned most of what she knows about romance by reading romance novels so cheese is something she is very familiar with. She just doesn’t recognize it as such. Thankfully Torian thinks it’s cute. 

28. What do they do when they’re away from each other?

Noara tries to keep her mind busy, meditating and reading or in the training rooms practicing her lightsaber forms. She has to keep busy because she isn’t used to having a close enough connection with someone to miss them the way she misses Torian when they are apart. He handles it better, as he usually does these things, but still tries to find things to do so he isn’t moping over her.

Thanks for asking hun! I’m going to talk about Noara, I have more headcanons for her than anyone else. I really need to work on some of my other characters....

1. What do they smell like?

Noara usually smells like starberry scented shampoo (which I like to think of as a Star Wars version of raspberries) and herbal tea

7. Which of their relationships have impacted them most positively? 

Well, Torian for sure. Before him she had very little ability to process her emotions in a healthy way - you will never convince me that the Jedi’s “there is no emotion/ mindset is okay - but also just the support and acceptance he shows her in relation to things she feels are her failings and shortcomings. 

33. Do they own any objects of significant personal importance? 

Despite having used many different light sabers over the years, before her imprisonment she still had her first training saber she built when she was a teenager. Most of her things disappeared during that time (I haven’t decided if Kira took her belongings for safe keeping or something else happened to them yet to be honest, we’ll see).

After Torian gifts her with a set of armor, as he did in this story, that becomes very important to her and one of her most valued possessions.

92. What mood are they most often in? 

On a normal, nothing is blowing up, no on is trying to kill her, no one is expecting her to save the galaxy day, Noara is (to put it the way @cinlat did a few days ago) peppy. Very light hearted, cheery and playful - maybe a bit immature too, she is only 22 after all. 

39. Tell us about one of the times they got injured?

When she was 15 she, and her clan mates at the Enclave, discovered parkour and the buildings in the complex where they lived in was perfect for it, lots of different landings and roofs at different levels to jump from. This is much easier to do when you have the Force, but they were far from mastering it and there were a few incidents. Lots of bumps, scrapes and sprained ankles. She was trying to keep up with the others and mistimed a jump, fell in the gap between two buildings. If one of the instructors wasn’t passing by to slow her fall she might have been grievously hurt, but instead suffered only a broken leg, bruised ribs and a mild concussion.
