“Is your house on fire?”
Becca had flung the door open, brimming with excitement when it had rung and her friends had started to arrive for her Chrismukkah party. She’d been even more excited that her boyfriend had managed to arrive ahead of everyone else; they’d both been so busy since they’d gone home for the holidays that this was the first chance she’d gotten to see him. She flushed in embarrassment, though, when he inquired about the wave of smoke that seemed to follow after her as she greeted him, and she took a step back, leaving Oliver on the doorstep. “Um... you know how bad I am at making cookies,” Becca admitted sheepishly, her fingers wrapping around the wand that was in her pocket. “You can stay out here if you want to breathe while I go get rid of the smoke, I won’t be offended, I promise.”
