Release of the Day: FORDIRELIFESAKE - “Breathing In Is Only Half The Function” (Forge Again) Probably not fair to always associate Fordirelifesake with the great From Autumn To Ashes influence-derby of the early 2000s, but yeah, if the shoe fits... Looking back on the frantic, no-nonsense hardcore/screamo that is “Breathing In Is Only Half The Function,” I’m struck by a few things: (1) Fordifelifesake didn’t care much for winnowing down their songwriting ideas; (2) guitars first, everything else in the back; and (3) the step-up in progression between this LP and their Thorp Records follow-up “Dance.Pretend.Forget.Defend,” is really something remarkable (check out “Recover” from that record).

Here is the second part to the Tight Phantomz album stream for Silk Prison.  This disc is my favorite of the two with the amazing shredding of "Sickening" combined with the poignant pop of "Silk Prison," "Lonely Life," and "Time Flies When Yer Not In The Who."  Definitely take the time to listen to this classic Chicago underground rock band.  You can still listen to part one here as well.  Silk Prison is set to be released via Forge Again Records on November 20, 2012.
