I need more Forgotten creatures!! They are the bane if my existence. Im obsessed with the characters. Would love a character sheet like age, heights and about them as it would make the story feel more real !!

When you were still posting FC and reader started getting sick I def thought Ginger/Champ were putting something in the food to slowly turn Reader into a minotaur too

that's not a bad assumption! it would've been interesting to have it play out that way.

But, if you'd like to know a secret, something that wound up getting cut from the final version (but something that I still personally believe is canon) was Champ's actual motivation. He didn't lock reader in with Jack just to punish them, but rather to starve them. If Ginger hadn't started bringing them food without him knowing (I'd imagine she can fudge the elevator and location logs to hide her activities), then reader likely would've starved to death before Jack would've.

That would've left Jack to have to make the horrifying decision of whether or not to keep himself alive using the only means of... food he had left. Thus fully leaning into the original mythos of the Minotaur. If you catch my drift. I wound up cutting that because it's a little dark, even for me, but still... in my heart, that's the canon reason Champ locked them in. Two birds, one stone, so to speak. Reader would be fully out of the way, and Jack would either be dead as well or he'd permanently lose what little shred of sanity he had left.

Here's a better explanation of MinoWhiskey's canon timeline, starting with the end of Forgotten Creatures! I thought the written explanation in my Minotaur Whiskey Masterlist was a bit muddled and difficult to properly visualize, so I made this!

Here soon I'm hoping to have a proper timeline made of the full fic of Forgotten Creatures as well, but that's a bit more labor-intensive so it will have to wait a bit.

Did you have any particular illness in mind when writing the sick reader scenes in forgotten creatures?

I did! There was this old episode of The Twilight Zone I watched once, The Midnight Sun. It was about an alternate reality where the planet got knocked off its orbit and was drifting into the sun, causing everything to burn up and the planet to be in crisis.

It was later revealed that all that happened in the episode was actually a fever dream of a young woman, who was living in a world where the planet was actually drifting away from the sun, making everything frozen and dark. Her fever was burning her alive, and her dreams reflected it.

So that’s kind of what I thought of when I wrote the reader’s illness in Forgotten Creatures! Not any specific illness, per se, but I really wanted to focus on the fever aspect and how that can distort one’s reality if it’s severe enough.
