It makes me so happy that you guys have a skinny mod. I bet some people out there imagine that the fat acceptance movement just just a bunch of us fat people complaining and that fats are the only ones who care about this issue. And then they have their views shattered when they realize skinny people can be human and understanding and not to assume every skinny person shares their shitty world views.

Thank you, love. I think it is fundamental that the privileged use their privilege to help those oppressed by said privilege. This applies to every issue, not only fatphobia.

Of course, a privileged ally needs to know their place and always be willing to listen, learn and not rise their voice over those who are oppressed.

I try to do this and use my time and privilege for something good. And I will always be willing to listen to you all and grow.

(this is the euphemism-hate anon) good points mod guillermo! you are completely right tbh. i honestly forget a lot of times that fat positivity tends to be very internet-centric- i know the version of me from 3 years ago before i got into activism n such would've really hated to be called fat. thank you for answering my earlier ask too, please have a good night! :D

You are welcome dear. Please remember that what i say comes from my biased and privileged perspective as a skinny person and that I might not be right on some things I say. 

I try to be as reasonable and fair as I can and I dedicate my life to use my privilege to create a better world for others, but my opinion shouldn’t be louder than that of actual fat people. So if anyone wants to add or correct to what i stated, they are very welcome to do so. But for my experience through a whole life interacting with fat people, that is what I really believe is the best way to approach it. At least as a skinny person. 

Fat people can address the subject to other fat people much more easily and don’t need to worry as much because most of the time there is an implicit empathy and understanding of what being fat is about.

Though of course there always are some fatphobic fat people with internalized fatphobia or those horrible ex-fat fatphobes we use to deal with here every day…

In any case, thank you very much for your words. They mean a lot.

Where does one find the information about the mods like who they are and what pronouns they prefer? I've been following and contributing for around... three months or so and I know 3 letters and a photo that was only posted like two days ago of two people.

We have stated several times that c is agender, v is nb and I am cis male.

But even if you happened to not see those posts, which we don’t expect, there is still no reason to assume pronouns.

We are always careful using gender neutral pronouns when replying to people and it is obvious that we expect the same in return.

We will help as much as we can. Sometimes the best thing we can do is not give advice because we don’t know the details of the situation well enough. But if we can we are always happy to help.

Message from mod G

I’ve decided to step back on my activity in this blog and focus my collaboration on analyzing shows and fatphobia in the media.

As much as I firmly believe that what we do here is right, and as much as I want to fight the fight, I also need to acknowledge my limits. There is only so much I can fight and I need to realize there is only so much I can take when the expectable verbal confrontations happen while doing my activism. Also, I find it extra difficult to express my thoughts in a language that’s not natural to me.

Added to all that, I already had to delete my main blog because I was targeted, doxxed and threatened by TERFs and neo-nazi groups I argued with. So the feeling of confrontation makes me feel uneasy again. Which is the main reason why I deleted my blog in the first place so I could feel more at easy and focus on this one. 

Mod C and mod V can express our thoughts much better than I can and they actually take their time and energy to provide links and sources. I hope this will help organize the blog and send our message in a more efficient way.
