However, despite his efforts, he was unsuccessful in overtaking the Dutch driver, remaining in third place in the early laps of the race.
The one who truly caught the attention was Lewis Hamilton, who had an impressive recovery race. Starting from sixth position, Hamilton even dropped to ninth place at the start, facing attacks from Gasly and Alonso, while Alexander Albon also lost positions. Unfortunately, Esteban Ocon had to retire from the race before completing 10 laps due to issues with his car, bringing frustration to the driver and his team.
From lap 19, cars began to enter the pits for the first tire change, a crucial moment to define strategies and gain an advantage on the track. However, on lap 33, Kevin Magnussen's car experienced problems, leading to the deployment of the Safety Car. The Safety Car period lasted from lap 33 until nearly lap 39, impacting the race's pace and teams' strategies.
On lap 37, Guanyu Zhou reported problems with his car's brakes, adding more challenges to his race and requiring his skills to deal with this adversity.
