dark brown eyes shot open as a bloodcurdling screech filled his ears, shoulders jerking back, feet scrambling for purchase, head whipping around to try and get a fix on whatever the hell it was that made that noise … two, three beats and the pain set in. every bone, every muscle cried out for mercy. a strangled noise in the back of his throat and pelna still, eyes screwed shut as he tried to do a mental check; anything broken? no. anything missing? no. bruises? not that he’d noticed yet. where did it hurt the most? everywhere … someone had used a curative - potion, phoenix down, whatever - curatives fixed the damage, but they could only do so much. the price for their health was the pain of what you should have suffered.
