Stuff of Nightmares || Kurt & Warren
The glass of water in Kurt’s hand shook slightly as he stared into it. He didn’t have much fondness for thunderstorms, and this particular one was massive. The thunder had been loud enough to rattle the windows, and it had left Kurt unable to sleep. He’d gone downstairs to find some water, hoping that walking a bit would help settle him down. But it hadn’t done too much. Peter was waiting upstairs to hug him until he felt better. That was probably what was going to help the most.
He made up his mind to go back upstairs, but decided to walk there so he could clear his head instead of teleporting. Putting away his glass, Kurt made his way out of the kitchen and through the front hall to the stairs. He hesitated in the main hall, just listening to the pattering of the rain for several long moments. When the thunder was gone, the rain itself was very soothing. Shutting his eyes for a second, Kurt let the sound of it echo through his heart. Gold eyes fluttered open, and Kurt let one last deep breath settle his soul.
It lasted all of five full seconds before the front door was broken down at the same time that lightning struck outside, and Kurt was suddenly faced with the monster from his nightmares. The person whose face he saw whenever he shut his eyes.
So Kurt did what any reasonable person in his position would’ve done.
He screamed, and leaped onto the chandelier.
