The moral of the story is, I will gut you if I need to. I will carve my way out with only my teeth.
Brenna Twohy, from “Little Red Riding Hood Addresses the Next Wolf,” Forgive Me My Salt (via lifeinpoetry)
silverliniing:
“Hang on, I’ve got an idea.”
He jumped up and dashed over to the cupboard, grabbing some wax paper. “Here, wrap the bacon in this and then try it.”
There was an idea. She tossed the bacon she was just burning and took the wax paper.
She intently wrapped the bacon in paper and then put it back on the straighter. Pretty quickly, it started to get a weird smell. “Tha’s good,” she said levelly.

He smirked a little. “You’re telling me.” He said softly. He smiled pleasantly at an older woman who came over to greet them. She flirted a bit with him, until Warren politely, but savagely, reminded the woman how he was married to a beautiful, intelligent, young woman his own age. She smiled tightly and turned to try her luck elsewhere.
Laura was very barely avoiding outwardly growling by the time the woman left. “Y’want me to go stab her?” she grumbled to him lowly, meaning it totally. She did not like people approaching her husband like that.

fortemventus:
“I fucked up. People don’t want me around.” He didn’t bother explaining further than that. She didn’t know who he was yet and he wasn’t going to remedy that.
“Yeah. Guess it’s like that with most people.” Of course, her situation was more that she was wanted, and she didn’t want to be anymore. Not like that, anyway. She finished up her food and licked any grease left off her fingers. “Should go back. Wanna sleep before I go.”

fortemventus:
“Because I said no when my mother threatened to have you executed.” He glared a bit. He wasn’t upset with her really. He’d still have done it if he’d known it would get him banished. But he was still irritated that he was out in the woods in underclothes and no boots.
She glared back at him a moment, then let the spell that caused her claws fade away. “Why’d you do that?” she finally asked, looking up at him suspiciously. “Nobody does anythin’ for me.”
