Weather fact: it's going to be 50°F where i live this week, which is fucked up because yesterday it was cold enough to ice skate

Max I need you to know that I live in a place where ice skating is exclusively something that you go to an indoor facility to do and the idea of checking the temperature outdoors before going ice skating, while perfectly rational and logical, is utterly unfamiliar to me.

yeah the main thing is their inability to do pretty much anything on land. this is due to their legs being set super far back on their bodies, which is great for swimming, but means they can’t walk more than a few steps without falling over & they have to take off by running and flapping across water. the name “loon” either comes from their clumsiness or how they sound. they can also fly well but they do Not have hollow bones. their eye color changes with the seasons. they eat rocks. 3) what order do you write in? front of book to back? chronological? favorite scenes first? something else?

I typically write chronologically since that’s how my brain tends to process information, but if there’s a scene I can’t get out of my head, I’ll write it in an outline or separate document and then figure out a way to connect the existing plot to that scene. That being said, when I get a story idea, it always starts with a single scene, and it’s up to me to figure out who’s in that scene, what’s happening, what they want, etc., which can be quite the challenge!

4) favorite character you’ve written

My favorite original character is my manuscript’s main character, Jess Paley. She’s a bit of a bitch, she’s really salty, and I like stepping into her head and messing around with her perspective.

My favorite character to write in fic is Camilla Hect, followed closely by Gideon Nav. This is, admittedly, mostly because I like to insert little pieces of me into their characterizations, and I really enjoy being salty (Cam) and/or irreverent (Gideon).

14) do you make playlists for your current wips?

Sometimes! Usually the playlists aren’t super curated; they’re just collections of songs I a) listen to while writing, b) associate with characters/scenes and/or c) think fit the vibe of the story.

I do have a playlist for my manuscript of songs I listen to while writing (which you can listen to here), and I crafted playlists for Jess and Ricky that you can listen to here (Jess) and here (Ricky). They’re not super curated but I did my best lol.
