I haven’t mixed music that’s not my own in a very long time and this was refreshing and challenging but in the fun way. This is for a mixing contest hosted by the track’s artist and I gave it a little more of a late 00s hard rock/alt metal feel as opposed to straight metal (which is what everyone else is doing??) so that I could stand out and hopefully be an honorable mention if I don’t win.

Sitting here jamming out with my cat, listening to some thunder in the distance. It’s honestly a great background for this song :) I posted the album this song is on before (http://hematitevehemence.tumblr.com/post/146573458989/rixansplaylist-this-album-really-changed-my), but this song is one of, if not my favorite, song on there. It’s explosive, dark,climbing/jarring riffs bring to mind damp, moldy bricks, moonlight, evil of the worst kind, and, of course, insanity ;D enjoy, fellow metalheads \m/

This album really changed my faith in music when it was introduced to me a few years ago. Growing up, I was a huge fan of Linkin Park’s stuff (their old,  angsty, angry stuff that sounded like it was made from the bricks, barbed wire, and grime of a city; I know, don’t judge). This, in a way, reminds me of that vibe, but reinterpreted and colored with that brief 2012/13 taint that gave birth to many great artists. However, saying it’s anything like Linkin Park is disrespectful, since every artist is their own. But after listening to it, you might see where I made that connection. Enjoy, and be prepared to be wowed by the weaving of urban grime and nature’s beauty.
