“What do you know?” 

I love this band. They never fail to impress me, and their style is unique to the point of being pure, and that’s what I look for and want in music. If you’ve never heard of Puscifer, give them a listen; this song is a remix of one of their other songs (featuring Milla Jovovich!), but it, along with the rest of the remix album, are phenomenal. Mixing alternative with harmonies, chants, and electronic, they walk a fine line of “what category are they actually?” and that’s probably where Maynard and the rest of the band likes to keep it.

Rock on, my friends; or dance on. Or both ;)

This album really changed my faith in music when it was introduced to me a few years ago. Growing up, I was a huge fan of Linkin Park’s stuff (their old,  angsty, angry stuff that sounded like it was made from the bricks, barbed wire, and grime of a city; I know, don’t judge). This, in a way, reminds me of that vibe, but reinterpreted and colored with that brief 2012/13 taint that gave birth to many great artists. However, saying it’s anything like Linkin Park is disrespectful, since every artist is their own. But after listening to it, you might see where I made that connection. Enjoy, and be prepared to be wowed by the weaving of urban grime and nature’s beauty.

When you go to the UK and are already a fan of electronic dance, you find stuff like this. If you ever get the chance, you should go visit the store Cyberdog. You’ll understand. Raver at heart, always <3

If you wanna dance and don’t mind pop, this song is for you. I’m not a huge fan of pop usually, but good ol’ JT has some great dance tunes. I’ll admit that ina heart beat.

This late-90s anthem is one of my favorites; it’s a story about the lead singer tripping balls on an airplane. Yeah, you heard that right…if you listen, it kind of makes sense. I like it because it perfectly embodies that endless sense of freedom, and the thousands of emotions that come with an experience like that. Can’t you see the setting sun over the clouds with an endless blue above you?

I think it’s appropriate to start this blog with a song my mom has been recently been geeking out over; and not the modern-day “ooo ooo ooo!”, but the avoiding-bed, slowly-headbanging-at 1am-with-eyes-closed, allowing herself to be transported by the bluesy-wailing to the transcendental world where music exists kind of geeking out. I am a millennial and had the awesome influence of 90′s grunge and mid-2000′s metal while growing up, but in the end, my mom has influenced my musical taste so much more than the times have. She’s taught me what “real” music is (I know it’s arguable, but there is a line somewhere), what real bands and musicians do and believe (or should believe), and how important music is to humanity simply by seeing her in almost meditative states on numerous road trips listening to Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. I have grown to admire music more and more as I’ve grown up, it’s always held it’s own place in my heart and soul, and forever will...but without my mom, that taste and love would not be as cultured and important to my life as it is now. So, thank you Mom, forever and always; I cannot express the gratitude of being able to love and feel music the way that you do. I will feed your love of music just as you have for me throughout my lifetime, and I hope we can continue to show each other new bands as the time goes on :’)
