Maryland handgun qualification license and ways to get it. | HOW CAN I GET A PERMIT IN MARYLAND?

-You will need to demonstrate that your life is in danger, which may

need the use of proof.

-Few cases received permits without a police complaint.

2. Domestic Violence - They, too, can obtain a license quickly.

3. Exceptions to possession of the HQL License -  Include lot of people such as Licensed Firearms Manufacturer, Active law enforcement officer, retired member of the United States Armed Forces or National Guard.

— A renting or receiving an antique, purchasing, curio or relic as defined by the law.

If you had a regulated handgun prior to October 1, 2013, you must apply for the Handgun Qualification License.  But, you are exempt from the training component.

What Is Handgun License Qualification Training? 

Handgun Qualification License training consists of four hours of classroom teaching on state firearm legislation, home firearm safety, pistol mechanics and operation, and a component in which the candidate must  demonstrate the ability to properly discharge a handgun.

Maryland State Police Certified Handgun Instructors who have registered with the Maryland State Police  MyLicense/e-gov site deliver authorized HQL training programes. 

Before applying for a Handgun Qualification License, you must first complete three years of  training.

Who is required to carry a handgun license in Maryland?

From October 1, 2013, no one may buy, rent, or obtain a handgun unless they have a valid Maryland State Police Handgun Qualification License (HQL).

Exemptions

A Handgun Qualification License is not required for an application if the applicant is:

A registered manufacturer of weapons.

An active police officer or a retired officer from a federal, state, or local law enforcement agency in the United States.

People form the United States armed forces or the National Guard are exempted be it serving or former.

A person who purchases, rents, or gets an antique, curio, or relic as defined by federal law or Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives judgements.

 There is also a rules for the individuals who are not supposed undergo training or not supposed to get trained again and again.

Those who must hold a Handgun Qualifying License but are exempt from the training component:

1.Have completed a Maryland State Police- approved firearms safety course (MSP).

Have passed a firearms and hunter safety course and earned a  competency certificate from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

Is a current licensed firearms instructor.

Is a member of the United States Military Services or the National Guard who has been honorably discharged.

Has a valid MSP Wear and Carry Permit and works for an  armored vehicle company.

Is legally in possession of a regulated weapon. If you acquired a  regulated firearm before October 1, 2013, you are exempt from the training requirements and are eligible to apply for the Handgun Qualification License.
